Job Description SummaryThe Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a Skill Bridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member's suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.Job Description

As a SkillBridge technician, you will support the GE engineering team within the GE Aerospace Advanced Electro-Pneumatic Test Lab. Within this role you will be given task-based assignments and mentoring in support of GE Aerospace product development/testing, test equipment and production support. Assignments may include but are not limited to creating/maintaining custom engineering test setups, set up and running data acquisition equipment, performing tests on various test articles, and reporting/documenting results of tests and measurements.

Responsibilities or Potential Skill Achievements:

  • Test assemblies and sub-assemblies for correct operation and compliance to performance specifications.
  • Set up test equipment and test pneumatic or electrical products using established test procedures and schematics.
  • Provide technical assistance to other technicians and engineers.
  • Perform basic trouble shooting encompassing multiple variables and unknowns to achieve root cause analysis and problem resolution.
  • Conduct experiments and diagnostic tests, as required to draw conclusions.
  • Identify recommended process improvements.
  • Keep workstation, tools and equipment in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Understand and comply with all company, safety rules, and regulations.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Active Military personnel on their last 180 days of Military service

Desired Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Comfortable with hands-on activities, including troubleshooting mechanical/electrical equipment.
