Solution Engineer - Narrowband Wireless & Private Networks
The Senior Solution Engineer is responsible for the design, deployment, optimization, and lifecycle support of mission-critical private wireless networks serving the oil & gas, electric utility, and water/wastewater industries.
This role requires deep expertise in RF engineering, SCADA communications, industrial IP networking, and private wireless technologies. You'll partner with customers, Engineering, Product Management, and R&D to design highly available, secure, and reliable wireless solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical SME for private wireless and SCADA networks.
  • Design, deploy, and support narrowband RF and PTP microwave solutions.
  • Perform RF engineering, link budgets, frequency planning, and path analysis.
  • Conduct site surveys, commissioning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Support SCADA communications using DNP3, Modbus, and industrial IP protocols.
  • Lead technical workshops, solution design reviews, and customer engagements.
  • Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), RFP responses, and Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Evaluate new technologies and collaborate with Product Management and R&D on solution improvements.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • 7 years of experience designing and supporting private wireless networks.
  • Experience with GE MDS, 4RF, Racom, FreeWave, XetaWave, Ceragon, Siklu, Cambium, or similar technologies.
  • Background supporting mission-critical communications in utilities, oil & gas, or industrial environments.
  • Strong customer-facing, pre-sales, deployment, and troubleshooting experience.

Technical Skills
  • RF engineering, microwave systems, and link budget analysis.
  • IP networking and industrial networking protocols.
  • Wireshark and packet capture analysis.
  • RF planning tools, spectrum analyzers, and test equipment.
  • Windows and Linux environments.
  • Industrial cybersecurity and network segmentation.

Travel
  • Hybrid position with up to 50% travel to customer and industrial sites.
  • Valid driver's license required.
