Construction Estimator - Banking Industry Construction - Base Salary to 100k/year - Warren, MI

  • Our client is an established commercial general contractor specializing in construction projects for banks and financial institutions throughout the Midwest and nationwide. Their project portfolio includes commercial renovations, remodeling, and ground-up construction.
  • The Construction Estimator will manage commercial construction estimating and preconstruction activities from initial bid review through final proposal. This includes reviewing architectural and structural drawings, performing quantity takeoffs and cost estimates, soliciting and leveling subcontractor bids, reviewing project scope and pricing, and coordinating with Project Management and Operations teams. This position is primarily office-based in Warren, MI, with occasional travel to project sites, including infrequent out-of-state travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze architectural and structural drawings, blueprints, plans, specifications, proposals, scopes of work, and other construction documentation
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs for commercial construction projects
  • Prepare detailed construction cost estimates and bids for renovation, remodeling, ground-up, design-build, construction management, and hard bid projects
  • Prepare subcontractor bid invitations and solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
  • Review and level subcontractor bids for scope, pricing, and completeness
  • Schedule and participate in subcontractor site visits to review project scope
  • Prepare bid presentations and supporting preconstruction documentation
  • Work with Project Management and Operations teams throughout the estimating and preconstruction process
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and project site visits
  • Prepare project documentation, material release schedules, project schedules, and related information for Project Managers
  • Travel to project sites as needed to obtain measurements, photographs, and other information required for estimating

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of commercial construction estimating experience required
  • Experience estimating design-build, construction management, and hard bid projects
  • Experience performing construction takeoffs, cost estimates, subcontractor bid solicitation, bid analysis, and bid leveling
  • Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting construction plans and specifications within bid time frames
  • Experience working with architectural and structural drawings
  • Experience soliciting and coordinating bids from construction subcontractors
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work full time in the Warren, MI office, with one day per week available to work from home once established
  • Ability to occasionally travel to project sites in other states

Compensation:

  • Base salary in the 85k - 100k/year range
