Job description

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Sr Buyer Renewable Energy Services (Solar Wind) for a direct placement assignment with one of our premier Utility services clients in Detroit, MI.
The Senior Buyer, Renewable Energy EPC Subcontracting, manages procurement for large scale battery storage, solar, and wind energy projects. This role sources subcontractors for engineering, civil works, electrical installation, turbine erection, panel installation, and balance of plant construction. The buyer ensures competitive pricing, contract compliance, and supplier performance across multiple renewable project sites.
Responsibilities:
  • Strategic EPC Subcontract Sourcing: Lead RFPs and competitive bid events for subcontractors supporting renewable energy plant construction.
  • Commercial Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, schedules, LDs, warranty terms, and performance guarantees.
  • Supplier Qualification: Assess subcontractor capabilities in solar, wind, and battery storage construction.
  • Project Procurement Planning: Build procurement schedules aligned with EPC milestones and long lead equipment timelines.
  • Cost Modeling: Analyze bids, validate cost structures, and benchmark against market rates.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and manage SOWs, MSAs, and subcontract agreements.
  • Sustainability & Compliance: Ensure adherence to environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Market & Commodity Tracking: Monitor pricing trends for steel, electrical components, labor, and renewable EPC services.
Required Skills:
  • 7-10+ years of procurement experience in renewable energy, EPC, heavy industrial, or utility scale construction.
  • Strong knowledge of solar arrays, wind turbines, battery storage systems, and electrical balance of plant.
  • Experience negotiating large subcontract packages ($5M-$100M+).
  • Ability to manage procurement across multiple project sites and timelines.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Construction, or related field.
