POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Q CELLS Home Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced solar operations leader to oversee licensing, quality, and training initiatives across the organization. As the Director, Quality and Training, this individual will serve as the company's license qualifier while leading quality assurance and training programs for all field employees. Key responsibilities include maintaining electrical contractor licenses in active and good standing, obtaining additional state-specific licenses as needed, and developing scalable quality and training programs that support operational excellence.
This is a critical leadership role responsible for helping build and scale the Axia by Qcells division across the United States. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in residential solar construction operations and hold multiple active electrical licenses throughout the Northeast region.
This position may be based out of Irvine, CA; San Francisco, CA; or Teaneck, NJ, with an in-office schedule determined at the discretion of the direct manager in accordance with company policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the company's Responsible Managing Employee (RME) and designated qualifier for contractor licensing.
  • Maintain active, compliant contractor licenses with all applicable state and local regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare for and successfully obtain contractor licenses in additional states as the company expands operations.
  • Review, oversee, and approve installation practices, workmanship standards, and quality control procedures.
  • Support permitting activities and ensure all projects meet local jurisdictional and inspection requirements.
  • Assist in resolving code compliance issues, failed inspections, and regulatory matters in a timely manner.
  • Monitor employee and subcontractor compliance with licensing, certification, and safety requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise related to residential photovoltaic (PV), battery storage, and electrical systems.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records for licensing, permits, inspections, and compliance documentation.
  • Participate in audits, investigations, and regulatory inquiries involving licensing boards or governing agencies.
  • Support training and development initiatives for installation teams related to code updates, safety standards, and installation best practices.
  • Ensure all work performed under the contractor license is properly supervised and compliant with applicable state regulations.
  • Help maintain the company's strong standing and reputation with contractor licensing boards and industry organizations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Active electrical licenses in New Jersey, New York counties, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
  • Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or associate degree with 12+ years of relevant experience, or bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, including 2-4 years in a senior leadership role within residential solar operations and/or partner management.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), OSHA safety standards, and local building codes .
  • Proven ability to apply strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills in fast-paced operational environments.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership, team development, people management, and executive-level influence .
  • Detail-oriented and analytical leader with the ability to recruit, mentor, and lead high-performing technical and quantitative teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present operational strategy, vision, and performance insights to internal and external stakeholders.
