Position Description

Origis Energy is looking for an experienced Director Project Development for ERCOT to join our growing, experienced project development team with the main objective of providing ERCOT market intelligence, executing on existing near-term projects, driving additional pipeline growth and project successes in both utility scale solar and energy storage. A deep knowledge of the ERCOT market is a must. In addition, the following is required: comfort and experience with being the face of the company at development and/or customer meetings, solar siting and land acquisition, an intimate knowledge of the ERCOT transmission system, grid analysis, Federal, State & Local project permitting, interconnection study process, a technical understanding of solar + storage projects, consultant management, wholesale market/RTO market operations.

The position of Director Project Development will report to a Vice President or Senior Vice President, Project Development and is a regular, full-time position eligible for our generous employee benefits package, including employer paid health insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions, and other great benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other teams to develop and execute on annual goals for execution of existing projects, developing existing projects and siting new projects.
  • Work on a daily basis with the land and transmission teams to acquire new projects in EROCT and process new and existing interconnection applications.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of project permitting and guide projects through LGIA Execution
  • Evaluate transmission grids and land constraints to make comprehensive presentations to management on ideal locations for new projects, ultimately securing selected sites
  • Work with early-stage interconnection team to assist with applications
  • Form comprehensive project teams using Origis Tier 1 consultants to conduct early-stage risk analysis and execute development stage permitting
  • Deploy experience with lead managing or assisting in PPA negotiations and manage customer relations during development
  • Organize and share development documentation with Origis Investment, Finance and Construction teams to assure project success and profitability
  • Manage vendors and project budgets through SAP system

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS and/or BA, MBA preferred
  • 6-10+ years of increasingly progressive development / origination / solar finance experience
  • Familiarity with development tools and value drivers including knowledge of: solar resource and PV Syst outputs, constrained project layouts, interconnection studies, permit studies, and financial model impacts
  • Broad knowledge of the full spectrum of solar development
  • Experience assembling teams and lead managing project development consultants
  • Familiarity and comfort in landowner negotiations
  • Experience with interconnection from application through LGIA finalization
  • Experience in public presentations and guiding 3rd party development relations
  • Preparation of project critical path analyses and recommendations
  • Experience with reviewing and providing inputs for financial models
  • Experience and deep understanding of the U.S. utility scale solar and energy storage markets
  • Have exceptional communication skills
