Job Description Head of Solar Operations (Solar & BESS) Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time Location: Manchester - candidate must be commutable distance to this area. Hybrid working is possible. Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday Salary: 70,000 - 85,000 p.a

This is a rare opportunity to build a brand-new Solar & Renewables division from the ground up, shaping its operational infrastructure, team, and delivery capability from day one. The business will specialise mainly in solar panel installation, battery storage, and EV charger installation.

Our client is a well-resourced, ambitious business launching this division with genuine backing and growth ambition from a household name. This is a high-profile, senior appointment reporting into the Operational Leadership Team, with real scope to shape strategy and leave a lasting mark on the business. The Role: As Head of Solar Operations, you will take full ownership of divisional performance, from strategic planning and operational delivery through to compliance, team development, and customer satisfaction.

You'll build the team and systems that turn this into a leading solar installation provider, with the autonomy to make it your own. Example of responsibilities: Develop and implement the strategic plan for the Solar & Renewables division Lead the end-to-end delivery of all solar installation projects, ensuring safe, on-time, on-budget delivery Recruit, lead and develop a high-performing operational team from the ground up Monitor operational KPIs - including installation success rate, re-attend volumes, and customer satisfaction - driving continuous improvement Ensure full compliance with MCS, NICEIC, and relevant industry regulations Oversee resource planning, installation scheduling, and workforce utilisation Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors as the senior operational voice of the business Experience / Skills Required: Extensive experience within the solar PV installation sector, including proven operational leadership A track record of launching, building, or scaling a solar installation business or division is highly desirable Experience managing multiple installation projects simultaneously across a wide geographic area Strong understanding of MCS standards, NICEIC requirements, and UK solar regulations Commercial acumen, with the ability to balance growth, risk, and profitability Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills Full UK driving licence If you're looking for a genuinely rare opportunity to build a division from scratch and make it your own, we'd love to hear from you.
