Position Summary:
IEM is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (Early Career) (Manufacturing Engineer, E1) for our Surrey, B.C. locations and will report into the Senior Manager - Manufacturing Engineering. The Manufacturing Engineer supports the development, improvement, and maintenance of manufacturing processes and systems in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and cross-functional teams, this role contributes to process optimization, data analysis, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is an early-career engineer eager to apply academic knowledge in Lean, Six Sigma, and manufacturing technologies while gaining practical experience on the factory floor.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the design and improvement of manufacturing processes and workflows for new and existing products.
Contribute to automation and smart manufacturing initiatives by supporting data collection, process documentation, and system testing.
Collaborate with operations, quality, R&D, and supply chain teams to support manufacturability and process readiness.
Participate in kaizen events and continuous improvement efforts, including data analysis and implementation of basic process changes.
Help develop and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training documentation.
Support layout updates, time studies, and analysis of material flow to enhance production efficiency.
Assist in tracking and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield, cycle time, and scrap rate.
Contribute to equipment installation and basic validation activities with oversight from senior team members.
Ensure awareness of safety, quality, and compliance standards (e.g., ISO, OSHA) within daily tasks and documentation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
Internship, co-op, or project experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
Foundational understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement principles (academic or applied).
Familiarity with CAD software and basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel or data analysis tools.
Exposure to ERP systems, automation, or manufacturing execution systems (MES) is a plus.

Compensation actually offered for this role will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
