About the team
The Yard Automation team empowers Amazon associates and drivers with our products to safely and swiftly perform their duties in the yard. Our products enable yard and gate operations at more than 6K onsite and offsite Amazon yards worldwide including FCs, IXDs, SCs, DS, Air Gateways, Offsites and AMZL. During 2022, Amazon associates performed 90MM check-ins and check-outs, including 6.3MM of remote and automated gate transactions in NA, and completed 49MM trailer moves in the yard.
Our vision is an autonomous yard. In an autonomous yard we will: 1) delight our drivers with an intuitive and automated check-in/check-out experience as soon as they arrive, 2) keep our drivers alert and safe through a guided experience in the yard, 3) use autonomous vehicles to perform in-yard movements to keep our associates safe, and 4) consistently maintain an accurate state of the yard to help other Amazon systems make smart decisions. We measure our success through reduced yard cycle time and dwell time, improved automation, reduced safety incidents and enhanced driver and associate experience.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
