What is software sales?

Software sales refers to the business of selling software products or services to customers, which can include individuals, businesses, or organizations. Professionals in software sales identify potential clients, demonstrate software solutions, negotiate contracts, and provide ongoing support to ensure customer satisfaction. Their role often involves understanding client needs, explaining product features, and helping clients see the value of the software in improving their operations. Success in this field requires strong communication skills, technical understanding, and the ability to build lasting customer relationships.

What are different types of software sales jobs?

Software sales jobs range from entry-level to senior management. In an entry-level role such as a sales development representative, your duties are to qualify sales leads, set up meetings with prospects for account executives, and prepare presentations and reports about new technology. As an account executive, your responsibilities are to convert leads, make sales, and plan your efforts around market forecasts. As an account manager, your job is to nurture relationships with clients to ensure loyalty to your product or service. Finally, as a solutions consultant, you provide training and assistance with software solutions for your clients and their employees.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in software sales, and how can they be addressed?

One of the most common challenges in software sales is keeping up with rapidly evolving products and industry trends, which requires continuous learning and adaptability. Sales professionals also frequently encounter long sales cycles and complex decision-making processes, especially when dealing with enterprise clients. Building strong relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders is crucial for effectively demonstrating value and closing deals. To address these challenges, successful software salespeople proactively seek ongoing product training, collaborate closely with product and technical teams, and develop strategic account management skills.

What is the difference between Software Sales vs Software Development?

How much do software salespeople make?

Software salespeople typically earn a base salary plus commissions, with total compensation ranging from $60,000 to over $150,000 annually depending on experience, location, and sales performance. High performers in this field can earn significantly more through commissions and bonuses, especially in enterprise software sales roles requiring strong negotiation skills and product knowledge.

Is software sales a good job?

Software sales is a sales role that involves selling software products or services, often requiring strong communication, negotiation skills, and technical knowledge. It can offer high earning potential through commissions and bonuses, but success depends on individual performance and market conditions. The job may involve travel, client management, and staying updated on product features and industry trends.

Job description

Description:

Job Title: Senior Account Executive, Enterprise CX - New Logo

Location: Remote (U.S. Based)

Reports to: EVP of CX & BPO Advisory

Are You a Top SaaS Seller Ready to Stop Selling Just One Contact Center Solution?

You’re a top hunter at a major contact center SaaS company. You’ve mastered the tech, you understand the AI, and you have a proven track record of closing complex, C-suite deals.

But... you’re still limited to selling your product.

What if you could stop selling a single solution and start solving the entire business problem?

At Outsource Consultants, an Inc. 5000 award-winning firm, we are looking for a true "hunter" to join our elite CX Advisory Group. We’re offering you the chance to become a trusted, impartial advisor who can provide clients with multiple solutions. From the world's best-of-breed contact center SaaS and AI technologies to the best-fit BPO labor providers globally.

This is your chance to move beyond being a rep and become the ultimate trusted strategic advisor your clients call first.

Why This is the Opportunity You’ve Been Waiting For

We know you're successful. Here’s why this is your next move...

  • Unleash Your Earning Potential with Uncapped Commission and multi year earning potential (rewarding long term customer value)
  • We’ve designed a compensation plan for a top sales hunter, and we never cap your success
  • Higher closing rates with various offerings to solve for clients

Base:

  • $120,000 - $160,000 (based on qualifications and experience)

Uncapped and Multi-Year Commissions:

  • Year 1 OTE: $160,000 - $280,000+ (with a 6-month ramp)
  • Year 2 OTE: $280,000 - $500,000+
  • Year 3 OTE: $500,000+

Exceeding quota between labor and tech commissions that are uncapped and for multi-year payouts significantly increases the earning potential in this role.

  • A True Hunter's Dream: No Territory, No Red Tape: This isn't a "territory." This is a "world." You have no territory restrictions, no assigned verticals holding you back. You are free to hunt worldwide. Our rule of engagement is simple: If you have the "in," you run the deal.
  • Focus on Selling, Not Admin: We want you closing deals, not managing data. You will be supported by a dedicated admin/sales support team member who assists with pipeline management, opportunity tracking, and other administrative tasks.
  • World-Class Marketing Support: You are a 100% new logo hunter, and we give you the tools to win. You'll be armed with a full arsenal of marketing materials, in-depth collateral, and powerful case studies to support your conversations with your network.
Requirements:

Core Qualifications: At a Glance

  • 3-5+ years of total outside enterprise software sales experience in the contact center space.
  • 3-5 recent years (minimum) as a top-performing sales hunter for a major contact center SaaS or leading AI contact center technology company.
  • Proven BPO sales experience, demonstrating a dual understanding of both the technology and labor sides of the contact center.
  • 5+ years of experience managing a complex, C-level sales pipeline in a CRM (Salesforce, Hubspot or Zoho preferred).

Your Mission: The "New Logo Hunter"

Your mission is to acquire new enterprise clients by leveraging your network and expertise to solve complex CX challenges.

  • Own the Hunt: You will strategically prospect and build your pipeline from the ground up, calling on your Referral and C-suite "rolodex" of CX, Customer Care, Operations, Finance, and Technology leaders.
  • Be the Consultant: You'll lead a complex, consultative sales cycle, using your deep knowledge of CCaaS, AI, and BPO to anticipate client needs, build partnerships, and position the perfect multi-faceted solution.
  • Command the C-Suite: You will be the face of our advisory practice, leading executive briefings, solution demos (with support), and high-value negotiations in multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Orchestrate the "Team Sell": While this is an individual contributor role, you’ll be a "strategic thought leader," collaborating with internal experts to build and close unstoppable solutions.

Who We're Looking For (The Profile)

This is a specific role for a specific person. You are:

  • Living by our values: Act With Integrity, Teamwork & Partnership, Making A Positive Impact, and Get Better Every Day. We're building something great, and we're doing it the right way.
  • A Proven Enterprise Technology Hunter: You have 5+ years of outside enterprise software sales experience in the contact center space, with at least the last 3-5 years as a top-performing hunter for a major contact center SaaS or leading AI tech company.
  • The "Dual-Threat" Expert: You have past BPO sales experience. You understand the landscape of call centers from both the technology and the BPO labor side. You are 75% tech-focused but 100% landscape-aware.
  • A C-Suite Advisor: You have a proven track record of selling to the C-suite (COO, CFO, CTO) and VPs (CX, Customer Care). You possess exceptional verbal/written skills, as well as a superior professional presence.
  • A Consultative Seller: You are "customer-obsessed" with superior active listening skills, excellent objection handling, and a passion for long-game, complex sales cycles.
  • A Strategic Thinker: You are a "thoughtful negotiator" and a "strategic thought leader" who is adaptable, organized, and thrives on being the ultimate team player and motivator.
  • A Network-Driven Pro: You have deep experience with national partners and service providers in the cloud collaboration (CCaaS, UCaaS, AI) ecosystem.

The Perks & Benefits

We invest in our people. On top of the industry-leading compensation plan, we offer:

  • Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, life)
  • 401(k) program
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays
  • A remote-first, flexible work environment
  • A clear budget for 25-35% travel (client meetings, trade shows, conferences, and referral meetings)

Ready to build your "Dream State" career? Apply now.
