Primary responsibilities are managing embedded software deliverables and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure successful vehicle software launches in PACCAR manufacturing plants and in the field.

Job Responsibilities

  • Release vehicle system software packages and customer-configurable parameter solutions for commercial trucks.
  • Maintain and release drawings to document changes to vehicle system software calibrations and parameter characteristics.
  • Complete engineering change notice documentation to implement software and parameter updates into production environments.
  • Define and maintain the software package structures to maintain compatibility with PACCAR’s proprietary service tool and internal backoffice applications.
  • Evaluate and improve processes for selecting, configuring, composing, and delivering embedded software.
  • Translate requirements into parameter rules logic to support vehicle-specific calibrations to meet the needs of product designs and customer needs.
  • Track and report progress of support activities (sales tool updates, selection logic changes, programming tool releases, software test, and any required regulatory submissions) leading to launch readiness and overall release schedule.
  • Support launch at truck assembly plants as needed and resolve field issues as identified.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers as well as other professionals to ensure industry-leading quality of the content delivery is met/maintained/exceeded on all releases.
  • Coordinate with suppliers as needed to ensure purchased software is delivered on-time and correctly structured for PACCAR use.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and/or releasing automotive or commercial vehicle system software, electronic controls, switches, driver input devices, and/or HMI
  • Experience with testing and/or designing software for autonomous vehicle systems.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (MATLAB, C++, C#, etc.).
  • Awareness of heavy-duty commercial truck regulations, especially affecting instrumentation, emissions, safety, and On-Board Diagnostics.
  • Understanding truck design and application as it impacts electrical/electronic systems, architecture, and software-driven functionality.
  • Basic understanding of J1939 Communication Protocol, UDS, and Automotive Ethernet, as it pertains to programming and diagnostics.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, lean, collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and planning/tracking skills.
  • Competency with standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.).
  • Able to learn and use new processes and techniques and resourcefully solve complex technical issues.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to formulate a robust root-cause analysis across multiple information sources.
  • Ability to translate between customer-driven sales requirements and engineering-driven technical solutions.
  • Commitment to reliability, value, and quality in all aspects of work.
  • Willingness to grow continuously, both personally and professionally with strong results and goal driven orientation.
