Software Quality Engineer
Position Overview
Seeking a Software Quality Engineer to support software quality assurance activities throughout the software development lifecycle. The role requires experience in software quality processes, quality standards, audits, compliance verification, risk management, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of software development methodologies, quality management systems, and First-Time Quality principles, along with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Define, implement, and maintain program-level software quality engineering processes, tools, and infrastructure.
  • Participate throughout the software lifecycle, including planning, development, verification, validation, certification, and delivery.
  • Conduct process and product audits to ensure compliance with approved software processes, plans, and industry standards.
  • Support program reviews, milestone assessments, and quality reporting activities.
  • Participate in configuration management and software release activities.
  • Plan and oversee software quality test activities, ensuring test readiness and process compliance.
  • Verify the integrity of testing processes and evaluate test results.
  • Support software delivery readiness reviews and final product reconciliation activities.
  • Identify process and product non-conformances and participate in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
  • Monitor software quality performance metrics and provide recommendations for risk reduction and quality improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous process improvements and software quality initiatives.
  • Serve as an independent quality representative, providing objective assessments of software processes, risks, and compliance.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience working in software development environments utilizing various software development methodologies.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Software Quality, Software Assurance, or Quality Engineering role.
  • 3+ years of experience developing, implementing, and documenting corrective and preventive actions for problem resolution.
  • Strong understanding of software quality principles, audits, compliance verification, and quality management processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting Quality Management System (QMS) audits.
  • Knowledge of software quality standards and regulatory requirements such as AS9115, DO-178, and/or MIL-STD-882E.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with configuration management and collaboration tools such as Git, Jira, Bitbucket, Collaborator, and similar platforms.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.
  • Familiarity with code reviews, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing processes.
  • Experience supporting software development teams in highly regulated or mission-critical environments.
  • Passion for continuous improvement, software quality excellence, and process optimization.
