THE ROLE
The Software QA Engineer II is a hands-on team player, willing to learn from others, who has experience with software testing, software quality assurance, test documentation and tools, as well as the software development lifecycle (SDLC) in general. This position will create solutions within an enterprise. This position focuses on defining the testing approach, developing test plans and test cases, and formal and informal test execution.
The Software QA Engineer II works closely with Biodesix’s business systems analysts and software developers as well as with internal cross-functional departments to understand testing needs and communicate project objectives and outcomes. This position works in an Agile environment with little supervision. This position focuses on continuous improvement, learning new techniques, tools, and technologies, and sharing knowledge with other team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform GUI testing, regression testing, black-box testing, end-to-end testing, etc.
  • Identify and document software defects by fully understanding and then articulating the cause, boundaries, and reproducible steps
  • Develop, document and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts like test data, data validation, test harness and automation scripts
  • Manage escalation of complex and high-priority issues
  • Maintain and update internal user facing documentation that fully reflects the product, and quality documentation that ensures the software/system is comprehensive
  • Estimate time needed for project QA tasks, accurately accounting for complexity and effort level
  • Document and present software quality metrics
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Stay current with technology and changing trends, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Work alongside other members of the ITS team to proactively elevate technology and consistently apply best practices
  • All other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to proactively define and identify testing solutions
  • Proficient in Agile software development lifecycle
  • Familiar with Azure DevOps or similar system for issue tracking etc.
  • Experience with testing IT solutions involving one or more enterprise applications (CRM, ERP, etc.)
  • Experience with a software test automation tool
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or another related field
  • 4+ years of software quality analyst or test engineering experience
