Join Our Team

KLS Earthworks is seeking an organized and driven Project Coordinator to join our team. This role works closely with our Project Managers, Superintendents, field teams, subcontractors, and clients to help keep projects organized, on schedule, and moving forward. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment, communicates well, pays attention to the details, and isn't afraid to take initiative.


This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working collaboratively with field operations, and taking ownership of project coordination from start-up through closeout.


KLS Earthworks is a leading civil construction contractor specializing in earthworks, underground utilities, and infrastructure development. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality projects while maintaining our commitment to safety, integrity, and exceptional client service.


What You’ll Do

  • Support Project Managers with the day-to-day coordination of multiple construction projects simultaneously.
  • Assist with project planning and create, manage, and maintain project schedules, look-aheads, and progress tracking using Microsoft Project.
  • Review project estimates and job costs and assist with quantity tracking, cost tracking, progress billing, and project forecasting.
  • Assist with project start-up and closeout, including coordination with building departments, government and regulatory bodies, engineers, architects, and other consultants.
  • Coordinate with field supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients, including material orders and deliveries, to support project requirements and timelines.
  • Prepare and track RFIs, change orders, purchase orders, submittals, and other project documentation.
  • Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and project requirements.
  • Attend project meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and track follow-up and action items.
  • Assist with evaluating subcontractor pricing and negotiating subcontract pricing.
  • Identify and investigate potential project risks, delays, and high-risk situations, and assist in developing solutions that support the best interests of the project and company.
  • Work closely with field teams to ensure they have the information, documentation, and resources required to complete the work.
  • Track project changes and maintain complete, accurate, and organized supporting documentation and project records.


Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Project Coordinator or similar construction role is preferred.
  • Experience in civil construction, earthworks, underground utilities, or related infrastructure work is an asset.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Comfortable working with both office and field teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with construction/project management software is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license.


Preferred

  • Experience obtaining City of Calgary permits, approvals, and indemnifications.
  • Experience coordinating temporary utility shutdowns and public notifications.
  • Experience with HeavyBid, HeavyJob, Vista Viewpoint, or similar construction management software.
  • Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Project Management, or a related field.
