Senior IT Project Manager – Healthcare Applications

On-Site | Louisville, KY 40222 | Full-Time


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager – Healthcare Applications to lead projects and strategic initiatives supporting healthcare, pharmacy, and document management applications.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of project or program management experience and a background in healthcare, pharmacy, technology, application management, or another technical environment.


Experience supporting pharmacy applications or pharmacy technology systems is strongly preferred.

This position works closely with technical, application support, development, integration, and release teams to coordinate complex initiatives, manage project timelines and resources, mitigate risks, and ensure successful delivery. The Senior IT Project Manager will also support software licensing, executive reporting, Agile project execution, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • 5+ years of project or program management experience
  • Experience working in healthcare, pharmacy, technology, application management, or a similarly technical environment

Key Responsibilities

Project & Program Management

  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Lead projects from planning through successful implementation and completion.
  • Establish project timelines and ensure deliverables remain on schedule.
  • Coordinate multiple projects and competing priorities across the Application Management organization.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively address delays, dependencies, and roadblocks.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies before issues impact delivery.
  • Track project dependencies and ensure appropriate teams are engaged at the right time.
  • Facilitate project meetings and maintain clear action items and follow-up.


Healthcare & Pharmacy Application Management

  • Coordinate projects involving third-party pharmacy, healthcare, and document management applications.
  • Work closely with technical and application support teams to support application-related initiatives.
  • Partner with stakeholders responsible for integrations, interfaces, development, technical support, and application releases.
  • Help ensure application-related projects align with operational and organizational objectives.
  • Support initiatives designed to improve application performance, workflows, reliability, and user satisfaction.


Agile & Scrum

  • Apply Agile and Scrum methodologies to project execution when appropriate.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies as needed.
  • Promote effective collaboration between technical, support, development, and business teams.
  • Use Agile practices to improve visibility, accountability, prioritization, and project delivery.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project management and Agile processes.


Software Licensing & Vendor Management

  • Oversee software licensing for third-party pharmacy and document management applications.
  • Maintain accurate records of software licenses, utilization, renewals, and compliance.
  • Monitor upcoming renewals and identify potential licensing risks.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders regarding software procurement and licensing requirements.
  • Provide leadership with updates regarding licensing status, risks, and upcoming needs.
  • Help ensure software is appropriately utilized and aligned with organizational requirements.


Resource & Budget Management

  • Coordinate project resources to ensure teams are appropriately staffed and supported.
  • Work with departmental leadership on resource allocation and capacity planning.
  • Track project budgets and spending against approved allocations.
  • Identify resource or budget risks and communicate concerns to leadership.
  • Provide regular updates regarding project resource requirements and financial status.


Executive Reporting & Communication

  • Serve as a central point of coordination between Application Management teams and leadership.
  • Provide regular updates regarding project status, timelines, milestones, risks, and issues.
  • Prepare executive summaries and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Escalate significant risks, resource concerns, and project issues appropriately.
  • Ensure stakeholders have accurate and timely information throughout the project lifecycle.


Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, schedules, status reports, meeting notes, and action items.
  • Develop reporting processes and KPIs to monitor project milestones, timelines, resources, and delivery.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project management processes and team workflows.
  • Gather feedback from stakeholders and project teams to identify process improvements.
  • Implement project management and Agile best practices to improve consistency, efficiency, and delivery quality.


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project or program management experience
