Job description

Experienced Software/Hardware Estimator

Company:

The Boeing Company

The Boeing Company is looking for an Experienced Software/Hardware Estimator based out of Everett, WA.

This position will evaluate contracts, analyze supply chain purchases, and estimate costs for software and system components. This role requires strong technical knowledge and effective communication with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a background in Software Development, Software Engineering and/or Software/Hardware Estimating. They will also have an enthusiasm for intellectual curiosity, attention to detail and a focus on accuracy. Strong time management and organizational skills are a primary function in this role.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Review contracts to assess labor and material purchases

  • Identify gaps in estimating software/system components (e.g., Line Replaceable Units)

  • Collaborate with estimators to gather tools and data for accurate pricing

  • Analyze software usage to determine complexity and cost implications

  • Articulate the rationale behind cost estimates to stakeholders

  • Utilize various sources to improve estimate accuracy, focusing on avionic systems

  • Compile Statements of Work (SOW) and evaluate supplier proposals

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher

  • 3+ years of experience with programming languages

  • Experience with government and industry cost models (i.e. SEER, and/or Price, or similar)

  • Experience with software project management methodologies (i.e. Agile, waterfall)

  • Experience with SDLC (Software/Systems Development Lifecycle)

  • Experience with software architecture and software implementation

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in software estimation and project management

  • Ability to articulate cost estimates during negotiations with suppliers and explain them to program stakeholders

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams under tight deadlines

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Business and manufacturing acumen
