Software Engineer III 

The Role 

Pearson PSG PAICE Software Engineering Group is seeking a highly motivatedSoftware Engineer III to design, develop, and maintain modern cloud-native applications that power the next generation of AI-enhanced content creation, assembly, management, and delivery solutions.

In this role, you will work on a cloud-based platform that transforms traditional publishing and educational content workflows into a seamless, intelligent, and scalable experience. The platform enables authors and content creators to build, customize, align, and deliver portable, platform-agnostic content while leveraging AI-assisted capabilities for content generation, transformation, and workflow automation.

As a Full Stack Engineer, you will contribute across the entire technology stack, building responsive user experiences, scalable microservices, APIs, and cloud-native backend systems. You will collaborate with product managers, architects, UX designers, content specialists, AI engineers, and other software engineers to deliver innovative solutions that support content authoring, PDF transformation, learning framework management, and digital content distribution.

This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a highly collaborative environment, has strong technical depth across front-end and back-end technologies, and embraces modern software engineering practices including AI-assisted development, event-driven architecture, microservices, and cloud-native application design.

  • Design, develop, and maintain modern web applications using React, TypeScript, and Node.js.

AI & Agentic Engineering

  • Participate in the evaluation, integration, and optimization of AI services, LLM-based solutions, and intelligent workflows.

Content Platform Development

  • Build solutions that enable the creation and customization of portable, platform-agnostic narrative content.

  • Develop systems that transform PDF-based learning materials into responsive, multimedia-rich digital experiences.

  • Support learning framework creation, content alignment, metadata management, and content lifecycle workflows.

  • Design scalable services that support large-scale content ingestion, transformation, and distribution.

Cloud & Platform Engineering

  • Design and implement microservices architectures on AWS.

  • Deploy and support applications using modern CI/CD pipelines.

  • Develop cloud solutions utilizing:

  • Contribute to infrastructure automation, monitoring, logging, and operational excellence initiatives.

Event-Driven Architecture

Engineering Excellence

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • Strong experience developing applications using Python.

  • Experience building modern front-end applications using:

  • React JS

  • TypeScript

  • JavaScript

  • Experience developing RESTful APIs and backend services.

  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.

  • Experience working with NoSQL databases such as:

  • DynamoDB

  • MongoDB

  • Experience developing and deploying cloud-native applications on AWS.

  • Experience with:

  • ECS

  • S3

  • Knowledge of software design patterns, object-oriented principles, and secure coding practices.

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York State, New York City, Vermont, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:    

The minimum full-time salary range is between $95,000 - $105,000.
