About the Team

This apprenticeship sits within OCTO, Jack Henry's technology organization focused on delivering innovative financial services for community banks and credit unions. The Android team is responsible for developing and maintaining the Android version of Banno Mobile, a whitelabel digital banking application used by financial institutions nationwide to provide a modern mobile experience to their customers.

About the Apprenticeship

As a Software Engineering Apprentice - Android, you'll gain handson experience contributing to a production mobile application used by hundreds of financial institutions. This is a learningfirst role designed for individuals early in their software engineering journey who are eager to grow their Android skills while working alongside experienced engineers in a supportive, collaborative environment.

The apprenticeship aligns with Jack Henry's Software Engineering career path, with potential conversion to a fulltime Engineer I, Software role based on performance, business needs, and program completion.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Learn Android development practices and become familiar with the team's codebase
  • Triage and resolve incoming bug reports and minor enhancements
  • Implement small to mediumsized code changes under mentorship
  • Pair and shadow senior engineers on larger or more complex projects
  • Participate in team discussions, code reviews, and daily collaboration
  • Build a strong foundation in mobile development within a regulated fintech environment

Minimum Qualifications

All apprentice candidates must:

  • Be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
  • Meet legal requirements to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Java and/or Kotlin
  • Exposure to Android development concepts or tooling
  • Familiarity with GitHub or other version control platforms
