Job Overview:
We are looking for a Vice President II of Software Engineering at LPL Financial who will play a pivotal role in leading and shaping the technology organization that is responsible for leading the Investor Experience for end-investors and institutions. This role will require working with key stakeholders to deliver set vision and integrated capabilities via self-service on the investor-facing platforms and experiences. Successful candidate will focus on fostering engineering excellence and leading high-performing teams with an open innovative culture. Work with a dynamic high caliber, cross functional team including engineering, product and design to create world class products. Lead the team in an empowering environment to create high-quality solutions.
Lead the engineering team to successfully deliver technology solutions including standards, pre-production environments, and development tools. Drive and support AI Enablement & Engineering Transformation. Lead the adoption of AI-assisted software development practices (e.g., code generation, automated testing, developer copilots) to improve productivity and code quality.
In addition, this positions partners with other agile team leaders to share learning, mitigate technical dependencies, plan for capacity needs and establish practice consistency between agile teams. Activities will also include daily oversight of development quality, partnering with solution architecture to establish patterns that the progress the teams towards scalable platforms.
Responsibilities:
  • Team Management: The Software Development Manager is responsible for managing a team of software developers and ensuring that they are productive, motivated, and aligned with the goals of the technology organization. Recruit, coach and manage the software engineering roles across product teams.
  • Project Management: The Software Development Manager is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of software projects. They are responsible for managing timelines, budgets, and resources, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Technical Expertise: The Software Development Manager is expected to have a deep understanding of the technology stack used in LPL Financial Services and be able to provide technical guidance to their team members. They are expected to keep up to date with the latest technologies and best practices.
  • Stakeholder Management: The Software Development Manager is responsible for managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This includes collaborating with other departments within the organization, as well as managing relationships with vendors, clients, and partners.
  • Risk Management: The Software Development Manager is responsible for identifying and mitigating risks associated with software development projects. They need to ensure that appropriate controls are in place to manage risks related to cybersecurity, data privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Strategic Planning: The Software Development Manager is responsible for contributing to the strategic planning process of the organization. They need to be able to identify opportunities for technology to drive business growth and identify potential risks associated with emerging technologies.
  • Continuous Improvement: The Software Development Manager is responsible for driving continuous improvement in the software development process. They need to be able to identify areas for improvement and implement changes that drive greater efficiency, productivity, and quality.

Requirements:
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience in Full- stack development designing interactive web applications, developing microservices, public cloud solutions, web services (REST APIs), Kafka messaging, and integrating with vendor APIs
  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience within a combination of .NET, Angular, Javascript, C#, SQL server, AWS(container and server-less), Git, Visual Studio and/or front-end technologies.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in a Manager/Tech Lead capacity, guide the team's development efforts towards successful project delivery and application support
  • Minimum of 5+ years in a Solution Architect capacity, designing and implementing complex systems, including developing solutions from scratch

Preferences:
  • Cloud technology solution experience: AWS certifications preferred
  • Financial-industry experience, particularly in wealth & asset management organization
  • Strong Executive Presence, excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to convey technical solutions to the entire organization and experience working with senior leader of the firm to drive positive outcomes.
  • Drive integration of AI capabilities into the Account View platform, enhancing personalization, insights, and client experience.
  • Establish standards and guardrails for responsible AI usage, including data privacy, model governance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage machine learning, predictive analytics, and automation to modernize workflows and reduce manual effort.
  • Partner with enterprise AI, data, and architecture teams to align with LPL's broader AI strategy and reusable capabilities.
  • Upskill engineering teams on AI/ML concepts, tools, and best practices to build a future-ready workforce.

Pay Range:
$192,095.00 - $320,227.00
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
