Job Description: Estimating & Design Engineer

Classification: Exempt

Reports To: Engineering Manager or General Manager


Position Overview

The role of Estimating & Design Engineer at Alcrete is to be actively engaged in all engineering aspects of the company's precast business including project estimates, takeoffs, blueprint reading, and production drawings. This position supports a project from estimate through submission and hand off to the project management team.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Complete project takeoff and estimates with information provided by the Sales Engineering team.
  • Interpret blueprints to understand and implement project requirements and develop project solutions accurately.
  • Complete project drawings for submission and use by the production team to ensure high quality products and solutions for our customers.
  • Turn over project to PM team for production and delivery to customer.
  • Provide support to customers for project design questions, changes and any related change orders.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, constructions, civil or related degree or equivalent.
  • Industry experience within construction and/or construction materials.
  • Excellent work ethic with a positive attitude and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment of teamwork and constant change.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and/or 3D.
  • 2+ years of experience reading plans (civil, architectural, structural, or electrical).
  • Experience working in a similar office environment (engineering, architectural, manufacturing, or construction).
  • Titan ERP software experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
