  • Lead a team of software engineers through a structured modernization and platform rehost effort, especially using AI tools and methods to gain efficiency.
  • Drive adoption of agile methodologies including sprint planning, peer estimation, and Definition of Done enforcement
  • Participate in the candidate selection process and make hiring recommendations
  • Identify and manage risk within the Software Engineering Department.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Train and mentor subordinates, conduct performance evaluations, recommend salary actions and promotions, interpret and apply organizational policies and monitor/resolve personnel issues
  • Participate in project life-cycle reviews such as Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Operational Readiness Reviews, as well as weekly, monthly, and quarterly briefings to the customer.
  • Create and report metrics about Software Engineering processes and progress to Site Management and to the NASA customer.
  • Participate in the Corrective Action Report (CAR) and the Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) processes for problem resolution.
  • Assist in the enhancement of communications by facilitating departmental meetings and attending meetings of interest to the Software Engineering Department
  • High possibility of emergency on-call status during non-work hours (nights & weekends)
  • Perform other duties as delegated/assigned by Site Management
