As a Sr. Member of Technical Staff of the key platform that enables hybrid cloud delivery, you'll own the design and development of high quality software products with specific focus on clustering, distributed systems, scalability and SLA guarantees. You'll propose ideas, review designs and participate in discussions with senior architects. You demonstrate critical thinking and strong analytical skills. Also, as a senior engineer, you take complete ownership of all aspects of building the software - design, development, quality, security, performance and scale.
In a typical day you'll ...
• Design, develop and test the features that takes vCenter Server Platform to the future
• Own complete software development life cycle of the features
• Apply coding guidelines, best practices and test-driven development methods
• Interact with PMs, UI/UX to provide the best experience for our customers
• Respond to customer issues
• Build features for both on-prem cloud and VMware on AWS cloud deployment
• Improve and maintain CI pipelines for your components
• Work with other team members to review the design, code, integrate and release the software
• Innovate to solve the business problems in a dynamic environment
Required Skills
• You have experience as a software engineer building production grade software with knowledge of data structures, algorithms, multi-threaded programming, and software design
• Strong object-oriented skills with C++
• Understanding of software design principles, coding best practices and debugging techniques
• Experience with programming in Linux environment
• You communicate clearly and write functional, design and test specification documents well
• Strong analytical skills
• Understanding of distributed systems programming
• Enthusiastic to learn new technologies and tools
• Be flexible and good team player
• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Computer Engineer or similar
• Preferred
• MS in CS, CE or equivalent
