As an Application Engineer, Korea/Taiwan - Oil Free Centrifugal (OFC) Solutions, you will be responsible for the efficient handling of technical queries for Copeland Oil Free Centrifugal Compressor and Solutions in Korea and Taiwan markets, from customers, field personnel and internal colleagues. You will conduct oil free centrifugal compressor selections, support system designs, focusing on technical proposals, customer communication, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure solutions meet customer requirements will be a key part of the job. You will provide training on application, installation, new products, and business development inspired by customer needs, pain points thru daily interaction with customers & market will be another key part of the job.
Responsibilities:
  • Acquire and maintain proficiency in all Copeland Oil Free Centrifugal (OFC) compressor products, solutions and services, particularly system design and operation.
  • Provide application support to all OEMs, wholesalers and end users
  • Provide technical support to customers and respond to telephone and e-mail technical inquiries in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Visit sites as required to review systems and diagnose problems.
  • Organize training material and conduct technical seminars on product application and installation in conjunction with local team and overseas visitors.
  • Ensure that customers are aware of key points in all new applications. Verify that key points are understood and observed - prevent mis-applications.
  • Analyze and study product and system performance data; suggest improvements that may lead to lower costs or a better performing system.
  • Support field personnel and customers' R&D projects (new product development, field studies)
  • Provide a tangible application and commissioning supports, state-of-the-art solutions to the customers using Copeland Oil Free Centrifugal compressor and integration solution products, including but not limited to controllers, inverter and line components
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Supervisor, including but not limited to cross countries support of Copeland Oil Free Centrifugal compressor applications.
  • Providing technical support for new business opportunity inspired from daily, various technical interaction with customers and potential customers.
  • Lead new business development activities in adjacent business areas and/or any new business portfolio company to add for future business growth
  • Coming up with technical solution to address customers' pain points & needs in short & mid-term and connecting them to NPD funnel and/or providing solution & system integration support collaborating with in-region vertical marketing, business leaders, country sales team and R&D team
  • Actively join project sales activities with country sales team not only for technical support but also to provide value added sales approach to improve project lead quality
  • Perform simple research job thru own experience, technical literatures survey or HVAC/R show participation as assigned by the supervisor
  • Identify and support any opportunities for upsell, cross-sell and land new customers
  • Work on Safety (KC) Certification (as needed)
  • Support customers outside of Korea/Taiwan (as needed)

Requirements:
  • University degree in Refrigeration/HVAC/electronic control systems or equivalent in Engineering.
  • Five (5) years of experience in Oil Free Centrifugal (OFC) performance test, OFC compressor, chiller and air-conditioning industry experience.
  • Excellent hands-on technical knowledge of Oil Free Centrifugal (OFC) compressors including control algorithm, system design, electrical systems including inverter driver, controllers and trouble shooting.
  • A strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and a customer-focused approach are essential for this role.
  • Good written and oral in Korean Language (English language skill is an added advantage).
  • Solid computer skills including MS Office, Internet software, E-mail, Windows.
  • Excellent spreadsheet knowledge required.
  • Excellent planning, organizing and prioritizing skills.
  • Attention to detail and an eye for errors.
  • Able to communicate with all levels within the organization.
  • Able to learn and work independently, whilst still working as an integral part of the team.
  • Mandarin language is an added advantage.
