Job description

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. In this role, you will bring that vision to life by designing, developing and testing the embedded satellite software and ground services that control individual satellites.
In this role, you will manage a team responsible for embedded software and cloud services for the Leo satellites. Our focuses are on reliability, efficiency, safety, and security.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

- Define and drive the multi-year vision for the team.
- Oversee resource allocation to ensure appropriate business and staff development goals are met.
- Participate in strategic planning to achieve technical and business goals.
- Work closely with engineers to architect and deliver the best technical designs and approaches.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- 3+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using service-oriented architecture experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
