Position Summary

As a Product Owner with J. J. Keller, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our products by serving as the liaison between business needs, customer expectations, and software development teams. You'll partner closely with Product Managers, developers, UX designers, analysts, and stakeholders to transform strategic product vision into impactful solutions that deliver real customer value.

In this highly collaborative role, you'll own and prioritize the product backlog, define clear requirements, and guide Agile teams through the successful delivery of features and enhancements. You'll have the opportunity to influence product direction, solve complex business challenges, and ensure that every sprint contributes to meaningful outcomes for customers and the business.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintains, prioritizes, and sequences the product backlog according to business value or ROI.
  • Assists with the elaboration of epics, themes and features into user stories that are granular enough to be achieved in a single sprint. Works with product analysts on full preparation of PBI’s that equates to targeted sprint scope.
  • Effectively verifies and validates requirements; ensures that all requirements support the delivery of business value, fulfills goals and objectives, and meets a stakeholder need.
  • Conveys the vision and goals at the beginning of every release and sprint.
  • Works with the development resources and QA resource to facilitate meaningful testing with the goal of ultimate acceptance.
  • Represents the customer to the development team.
  • Participates in the daily scrums, sprint planning, release planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
  • Inspects the product progress at the end of every sprint and has complete authority to accept or reject work.
  • Works with Dev Manager if a sprint is determined that a disruption or material change in direction is required within a sprint / epic.
  • Maintains relationships with the business and client to understand current and changing needs.
  • Actively involved in activities to support general availability of released items.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for requirements clarification, stakeholder feedback, and updates on active development efforts.
  • Completes high level designs for material epic level features, partnering with product manager and UI/UX.
  • Identifies and maintains the metrics / reporting needed to support the assigned product area.
  • Prepares and updates documentation to include functional specifications, testing procedures, end user documentation, etc.
  • Prepare and conduct end-user or business user training.
  • Prepares and participates in requirements and process documentation for products, systems and processes.
Qualifications

Experience

  • 3 years’ experience in a product analyst / product owner role with proven experience driving agile teams with product requirements.
  • Report writing/query tools experience with SQL or PowerBI.
  • Project leadership experience required.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in business-related field.
  • In lieu of degree, will consider an additional 4 years of directly related experience.

  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to quickly develop an in-depth knowledge and understand the relationship between opportunities, business needs and J. J. Keller capabilities for product/service/system delivery.
  • Intellectually curious with a desire to become a proven SME in product areas assigned.
  • Technical aptitude with an understanding of systems and data flow.
  • Ability to communicate and document technical and or regulatory needs to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects with a strong attention to detail and deadlines.
Physical Requirements

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to customer sites and/or industry and training events may also be required, depending on assignment.
