Job Description:
We are seeking a talented and driven hybrid-remote Professional Software Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain robust Java-based applications and GraphQL APIs deployed on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Leveraging the Spring Boot framework and modern cloud-native practices, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-performance backend services. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on product quality, contribute to a culture of engineering excellence, and grow alongside experienced architects and senior engineers. In this role, you will also actively adopt and leverage AI-native engineering practices and tools to maximize development efficiency and maintain a competitive technological edge.
Primary Objective:
Develop, deploy, and maintain robust and scalable Java-based applications and GraphQL APIs on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Job Responsibilities:
  • Spring Framework Execution: Utilize the Spring Framework (Spring Boot) to build and enhance backend Data API services, ensuring high performance, security, and reliability.
  • Write Production-Grade Code: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following object-oriented programming principles and established team standards.
  • AI-Native Engineering: Leverage AI-assisted coding tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Gemini, or similar LLM-based utilities) to accelerate drafting, refactoring, documenting, and testing code, while maintaining rigorous manual oversight for quality and security.
  • Drive Quality through Testing: Implement Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices, writing comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure end-to-end functionality and zero-downtime reliability.
  • Participate in Code Reviews: Actively conduct and participate in thorough peer code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to best practices, and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborative Problem Solving: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, Product Managers, and Senior Engineers to translate business needs and conceptual ideas into actionable technical tasks.
  • Apply Efficient System Design: Apply appropriate data structures and algorithms to build efficient solutions, optimizing existing application performance and API response times.
  • Operational Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues in production systems independently or collaboratively within the POD.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Utilization: Utilize continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure smooth and automated software delivery.
  • Continuous Learning & AI Adoption: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging cloud/API technologies, and advancements in AI; proactively identify opportunities to adopt and leverage AI-native tools and practices for continuous process improvement.
  • Peer Mentorship: Provide guidance and peer mentorship to junior team members, while actively learning and absorbing architectural knowledge from Senior and Principal Anchors.

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent work history.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in software development.
  • Strong proficiency in software development principles and practices.
  • Experience with the software development lifecycle from concept to deployment.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, REST APIs, GraphQL, the Spring Framework, specifically Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Data.
  • Solid understanding and experience working within a microservices architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • Knowledge of coding standards and best practices.
  • Experience in cloud environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with or strong interest in AI-native engineering tools (e.g., AI coding assistants) and a proven commitment to staying current with emerging AI technologies in software development.
