Welcome to Ziosk, where we empower restaurants to focus on what matters most: the guest experience!
Have you ever used a tablet to pay at a restaurant? We pioneered the pay-at-the-table concept and we're cooking up a plan to transform the restaurant industry. Our recipe for success has been adapting and growing to exceed the needs of our clients, such as Olive Garden, Texas Roadhouse, Chili's and more - helping them create an experience that keeps guests coming back. Our secret sauce? Our people! Every day, they're cooking up bold solutions, making Ziosk the leading pay-at-the-table provider in the industry.
Want a seat at our table? The Senior SDET is a hands-on technical leader who improves software quality, testability, reliability, and delivery speed across Ziosk products and engineering teams. This role combines software engineering, test automation, risk-based testing, AI-assisted workflows, and release readiness to help teams deliver high-quality software with confidence.
The ideal candidate is strong in code, automation, debugging, and system-level thinking, while also able to validate features directly, investigate defects, assess risk, and help their team better test and validate their changes. This is a role focused on engineering quality.
The Main Course - Responsibilities
Software Engineering & Automation
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable automated testing solutions across UI, API, integration, backend, and end-to-end workflows.
  • Write automated tests for their team's features, services, and workflows to improve coverage, confidence, and release readiness.
  • Create reusable automation frameworks, utilities, libraries, and engineering patterns that improve testability and reliability.
  • Integrate automated testing into Azure DevOps pipelines, CI/CD workflows, and release processes.
  • Build tools that improve diagnostics, observability, root-cause analysis, and release confidence.
  • Influence architecture, design, and implementation decisions to improve maintainability and reduce risk.

Testing & Release Readiness
  • Perform exploratory, functional, integration, and end-to-end testing where it provides the greatest value.
  • Validate complex workflows across Android applications, APIs, web, cloud services, integrations, payment systems, and backend platforms.
  • Investigate defects, analyze failures, identify coverage gaps, and support production incident reviews.
  • Apply risk-based testing to focus effort on areas with the highest customer, business, or technical impact.
  • Provide release readiness recommendations based on automation results, testing outcomes, risk assessments, and system health indicators.

AI-Accelerated Engineering
  • Use AI assistants, agents, and automation tools as a standard part of daily engineering work.
  • Leverage AI to accelerate test planning, test creation, code generation, debugging, analysis, and reporting.
  • Create reusable prompts, workflows, agents, and accelerators that improve engineering productivity.
  • Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and apply them where they improve effectiveness, while validating AI-generated output with strong engineering judgment.

Cross-Functional Delivery
  • Partner with Engineering, Product Owners, IT, Solutions Engineering, and Quality Engineering throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Help teams apply practical validation techniques that improve confidence before release.
  • Promote shared ownership of testing and quality outcomes across the team.
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery speed, test maturity, and software reliability.

What You Bring To The Table - Qualifications
Required
  • 7+ years of experience in Software Development, SDET, Test Automation, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Strong development skills in Java, Kotlin, C#, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
  • Experience building and maintaining automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience automating UI, API, integration, backend, and end-to-end testing.
  • Experience with Playwright, Appium, API testing tools, or similar automation frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, distributed systems, integrations, and cloud-connected applications.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development practices.
  • Experience testing mobile, web, backend, or cloud-connected applications.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity and effectiveness.

Preferred
  • Experience testing Android applications, device-integrated software, POS, payments, or transaction-heavy systems.
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, performance testing, or reliability engineering practices.
  • Experience creating AI agents, engineering workflows, automated analysis solutions, or productivity accelerators.
  • Experience leading technical improvement initiatives across software delivery teams.

Success Measures
  • Increased automated test coverage, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Reduced escaped defects, production issues, and release risk.
  • Improved release confidence, delivery velocity, and team testing effectiveness.
  • Adoption of AI-native engineering practices and reusable automation assets.
  • Strong hands-on impact across automation, validation, debugging, and release readiness.
