This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we're developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin's mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies.

Our team within ET builds the digital infrastructure that enables Blue Origin to rapidly and safely maintain reusable space assets at scale.

As part of a development team, you will use the latest AWS and GenAI platforms and approaches to accelerate the development and adoption of data-driven software capabilities across Blue Origin in service of Blue's mission and beyond. This position requires a passion for innovation, bias for action and a commitment to operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Member of a full-stack software development team (Scrum)
  • Develop highly reliable software solutions that are used across Blue Origin
  • Leverage AI technologies and tools (e.g., LLMs, agentic workflows) to enhance software capabilities, improve automation, and drive innovation in enterprise applications
  • Actively participate in the different Scrum ceremonies as a team member
  • Contribute to standards and best practices and coach and mentor fellow and junior engineers
  • Deep dive into your users' problems and partner with product managers to find and create efficient solutions
  • Participate in on-call production support rotation (regular business hours)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer with a focus on in-depth frontend development with Typescript and React or similar framework
  • Experience working on a full-stack software development team in an agile development (Scrum preferred) with at least 3 years with a focus on frontend development
  • Exposure to modern microservice-based software architectures (Java preferred) and containerized or serverless environments
  • Experience solving complex problems by leveraging AI tools and integrating AI-powered solutions into software development workflows
  • Proven ability to learn quickly and develop creative solutions to complex problems
  • A passion for innovation, learning and sharing knowledge
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in public clouds (AWS preferred) or AWS Cloud Practitioner or Associate Certification
  • Backend development (REST APIs, asynchronous messaging) preferably in Java or Python. Exposure to Java Spring Boot preferred.
  • Expertise in debugging, profiling, and improving application performance
  • Interest in developing innovative systems using Generative AI
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Manufacturing and/or Aerospace experience

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $164,652.00 - $230,512.80

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
