  • You will conduct Weapon Control Systems system integration efforts, including but not limited to developing software requirements and design, programming, integration, trouble shooting, and data analysis.
  • You will provide leadership through mentoring, supporting the project software development processes and collaborating across all functional areas within the organization and among external stakeholders
  • You will develop and write/code new (or modify existing) computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs following software assurance best practices.
  • You will analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • You will confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design application and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
  • You will correct errors by making appropriate changes and rechecking the program to ensure desired results are produced.
  • You will modify and maintain existing software to correct errors, to adapt it to new hardware, or to upgrade interfaces and improve performance.

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code Software Developer, proficiency level Basic the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, ND-03 (GS-09/11 equivalency), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience as a professional scientist in computer programming principles such as object-oriented design, software debugging principles and development models.
Examples of qualifying experience may include:

  • Conducting systems integration efforts, including but not limited to, developing software requirements and design, programming, integration, trouble shooting, and data analysis.
  • Skill in writing code in various coding languages (Java, C++ etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering/scientific concepts and technology with the ability to adapt theory and/or good scientific practices.

Education
Applicants must meet at least one of the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
  • 1550-Computer Science Series: A degree in computer science; or a degree with at least 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of these 30 semester hours must have been in a combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus:
