Were looking for detail-oriented, motivated individuals to join our Engineering & Design team as Trainee Assistant Consultants. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys maps, data, technology, organization, and problem-solving and wants to grow in the fiber engineering industry.


No fiber experience? Thats okay. Were looking for someone who is dependable, accurate, willing to learn, and interested in building technical skills over time.


About the Role

As a Trainee Assistant Consultant, youll help create and update GIS data, maps, reports, project records, and design-related documentation. Youll work with experienced team members while learning Fibersmiths tools, standards, and workflows.


This role is a strong starting point for someone who wants to grow toward an Engineering Consultant position.


What Youll Do

Responsibilities may include:

  • Entering and updating GIS features, attributes, and connections
  • Creating and updating digital maps using established standards
  • Assisting with preliminary design work as directed
  • Generating field and construction maps for project use
  • Preparing and updating reports, project records, and tracking documents
  • Maintaining organized files, drawings, designs, and supporting documentation
  • Helping identify missing information, inconsistent data, or documentation gaps
  • Supporting field data collection when needed
  • Traveling up to 1015% for job sites, industry events, or project needs
  • Supporting permitting-related tasks when assigned
