JOB DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION:

Duties: Perform tactical and strategic-level activities to build and support the big data and cloud environment. Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting to build solutions or break down technical problems. Create secure and high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems. Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while ensuring design constraints are met by software code development. Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse datasets to support continuous improvement of software applications and systems. Identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use these insights to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture. Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Engineering, or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Software Developer, IT Consultant, or related occupation.

Skills Required: This position requires experience with the following: writing scripts for Linux and Unix operating systems to verify directory permissions in Hadoop big data environments; designing Apache Kafka streaming jobs and performing root cause analysis on data stream issues; developing Enterprise-level J2EE applications; deploying in an Agile environment using Jenkins; designing data models for migrating on-premise data to cloud-based systems using AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker; JavaScript runtime environments and JavaScript libraries; observability and monitoring tools using Splunk and Grafana; functional, performance, and regression testing; coding with Python and SQL to pull data from Hive and Oracle databases, and designing and building Tableau dashboards and reports with the data; developing interactive Excel and PowerPoint reports with functionalities including vlookup, index match, add-ons, pivot tables, and VBA; processing large datasets with PySpark and Tensorflow by using data containers, multithreading, and multiprocessing; performing statistical analysis using machine learning methods including logistic regression, multivariate regression, classification techniques, attribution, cohort analysis, associative rule mining, and predictive modeling.
