Job description

We, at Leggett Dynamics, are searching for a Machine Design Engineer (Manufacturing Engineer)  within our Manufacturing Engineering team to help support our Automotive business.  Did you know we are the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of seating support and comfort systems for transportation manufacturers, as well as tier one and two suppliers within the automotive industry? That’s right! Our automotive products fall into four primary groups: Seating and Lumbar support, Motors, Actuators and Massage Systems. If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives. 

As a Machine Design Engineer (Manufacturing Engineer) you will have the opportunity to performs engineering work related to researching, designing, and developing equipment using electro-mechanical products and tools to develop and commission production equipment. Will collaborate with others to implement tools for production processes. Responsibilities include meeting production and quality objectives using effective technology techniques and quality materials. 

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, design, manufacturing or electrical engineering, technical related degree or relevant work experience
  • At least 3 years of experience
  • Math skills which include the use of algebra, trigonometry and analytical geometry
  • Experience using 2D and 3D solid modeling CAD drafting software. SolidWorks preferred.
  • Provide professional quality written, oral communication and technical writing skills
  • Manage multiple projects, work schedules, and accounting budgets
  • Understand business quality systems and procedures
  • Ability to supervise and direct others in a professional manner
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy in all aspects of work
  • Working knowledge of design and application for design of machine elements
  • Working knowledge of problem-solving techniques for stress analysis
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic power systems design application
  • Understand kinematics and mechanism concepts and design
  • Ability to read, understand, and create engineering drawings
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance
  • Electrical control system design and application
  • PLC application and utilize programming skills
  • Servo/stepper motor application design and programming
  • Working knowledge of robotic applications
  • Working knowledge of PCs and MS Office application software
  • Working knowledge of machine shop practices
  • Ability to operate basic machining equipment given instruction

Task Descriptions:

  • Designs machines and machine elements
  • Manages work project schedules and project budget
  • Perform other duties as requested or as deemed appropriate
  • Conform with the environmental policy and procedures and with the requirements of the environmental management system.
  • Responsible for the development and the release of all manufacturing documents related to machine and product builds.
  • Responsible for supporting and delivering new manufacturing technologies to improve competitiveness and project profitability.
  • Ensure Engineering Change Requests (ECR) & Manufacturing Change Requests (MCR) are followed up and implemented as projected.
