Job description

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Principal Systems Engineer for Autonomy & Active Safety on a contract assignment with one of our Premier Clients in Oshkosh, WI .
Responsibilities :
  • Contribute to the design, development and testing of embedded software including real-time control algorithms, vehicle interfaces, computer vision and sensor processing algorithms, graphical user interfaces, and communication networks for active safety, advanced driver assistance systems and unmanned ground vehicle control/embedded systems.
  • Develop detailed requirements and system architecture.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans to verify safety and reliability of electronic systems.
  • Conduct testing across multiple platforms, in both simulation and real-world use cases. May include travel to off-site test facilities.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical subject matter.
  • Develop and peer review software.
  • Process engineering information through CMMI level 3 procedures and software safety process.
  • Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
  • Manage development of a system of moderate complexity. May be responsible for managing development of multiple systems.
Required Skills :
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer sciences and five years' experience, or a Master's degree and two years' work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in programming embedded controllers in either C/C++, and/or PLC languages such as Structured Text.
  • 5+ years of experience with software testing, preferably with vehicle specific experience.
  • Experience developing networked communications (CAN Bus, Ethernet, V2V).
  • Familiarity with safety standards such as MIL-STD-882E, ISO 26262, IEC 61508.
  • Available for potential travel 10-20%.
  • Experience with version control, release management, and peer review systems and processes.
  • Specific experience in developing software for vehicle control systems, either on road or off highway.
  • Specific experience working with autonomous / self driving control systems.
  • Specific experience with integrating driver warning and assist systems.
  • Experience with Agile software development processes.
  • Experience using SysML to model systems and document architecture.
  • Experience with sensor systems including radar, LIDAR, and computer vision.
  • Excellent software system design skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
  • Ability to get a SECRET security clearance as necessary.
  • UNIX/Linux programming experience.
