Job description

As part of the engineering IT support team, the Windchill/PTC IT Support Specialist will provide dedicated technical support for Windchill PLM and other PTC products across the organization.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provides tier 2/3 technical support for Windchill PLM, Creo, and other PTC applications
  • Administers, maintains, and troubleshoots Windchill servers and infrastructure
  • Manages user accounts, permissions, roles, and access controls within Windchill
  • Configures and customizes Windchill workflows, lifecycles, and business rules
  • Assists with Windchill upgrades, patches, and system enhancements
  • Develops and maintains integration between Windchill and other enterprise systems (ERP, CAD, etc.)
  • Creates and maintains documentation for system configurations, procedures, and user guides
  • Trains end-users on Windchill functionality and best practices
  • Monitors system performance and implements optimization strategies
  • Collaborates with engineering teams to understand requirements and implement solutions
  • Manages data migration, import/export activities, and bulk operations
  • Provides backup and disaster recovery support for Windchill environments

Experience and Skills

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with PTC Windchill administration and support
  • Strong understanding of PLM concepts, product data management, and engineering change processes
  • Experience with Windchill system architecture, including application server, database, and file vaults
  • Proficiency with Windchill administrative tools and utilities
  • Familiarity with database systems (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and SQL query language
  • Experience with Windows/Linux server administration
  • Knowledge of CAD integration with Windchill (preferably Creo, but SolidWorks or other CAD systems beneficial)
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide timely resolution
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Customer service-oriented mindset with ability to support diverse user base

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • 3+ years of experience with Windchill administration and support
  • PTC Windchill certification(s)
  • Experience with Windchill customization using Java, JSP, or JavaScript
  • Knowledge of Info*Engine, Windchill APIs, and webject development
  • Experience with other PTC products (Creo Parametric, Creo View, ThingWorx, etc.)
  • Familiarity with OOTB Windchill extensions and customization frameworks
  • Experience with version control systems and software configuration management
  • Knowledge of ITIL service management practices
  • Understanding of network infrastructure, firewalls, and security protocols
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (Nutanix, VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Scripting abilities (PowerShell, Shell scripting, Python)
  • Experience supporting engineering environments in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing industries
