We are driving a massive digital transformation, leveraging our global scale and data assets to redefine the customer experience and operational efficiency. Join our Global Data Engineering, Architecture and Enablement team and help build the foundation for data-driven decisions across our entire enterprise.

This is a full-time (5 days in office) role based at an established Circle K office location.

The Role

As the Sr. Manager, Data Architecture, you will be responsible for defining and executing the data strategy and technical roadmap that supports Circle K's global data initiatives. You will lead a team of architects and modelers, driving the evolution of our modern data platform leveraging Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, and Databricks. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to align architecture with broad business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and maintain the enterprise data architecture vision aligned with Circle K's business and technology strategy.
  • Mentor and grow a team of data architects and modelers; establish best practices, technical standards, and career development paths.
  • Assess emerging technologies and tools for data architecture and recommend adoption where appropriate.
  • Lead the evolution of a domain-aligned, product-oriented data platform, balancing centralized standards with decentralized delivery.
  • Influence architectural outcomes across multiple teams and domains without direct ownership, balancing standardization with team autonomy.

2. Architecture & Design

  • Establish and govern standards for data modeling, integration, storage, and governance across platforms (e.g., Azure, Snowflake, Databricks).
  • Define and enforce architectural principles for data products, including schema ownership, quality contracts, lineage, and lifecycle management.
  • Design scalable, secure, and performant data solutions for analytics, Business Intelligence (BI), and operational use cases.
  • Define patterns for data ingestion, transformation, and integration across systems and domains.
  • Ensure architectural consistency across all data products and business domains.

3. Governance & Compliance

  • Partner with Data Governance to enforce data quality, lineage, and metadata standards enterprise-wide.
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements relevant to data management.
  • Maintain clear architectural documentation and effectively communicate complex designs to technical and business stakeholders.

4. Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work closely with Data Engineering, BI, Analytics, and Platform teams to deliver integrated, end-to-end data solutions.
  • Advocate for architectural principles and educate cross-functional teams on data architecture best practices.
  • Remain technically hands-on through design reviews, reference architectures, and targeted prototyping, while enabling teams to deliver independently.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years of professional experience in the data space, with a minimum of 5 years of dedicated experience as a Data Architect or equivalent role.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep experience designing and building scalable data platforms utilizing modern cloud technologies.
  • Cloud Platform: Proven architectural experience with Microsoft Azure for data storage and services.
  • Experience designing data platforms at enterprise scale, supporting multiple business domains and diverse analytics use cases
  • Core Tools: Expert-level knowledge and practical experience with Snowflake and Databricks for data warehousing and data lake solutions.
  • Data Modeling: Extensive experience with data modeling concepts and practical experience with data modeling tools, preferably Erwin.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, or managing a team of architects or technical specialists.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Why Join Circle K?

You will be joining a high-impact team at a pivotal moment in our technological transformation. You will have the autonomy to define the enterprise-level data landscape for a global organization, directly contributing to business performance and customer experience.
