About the Job

The YMCA Fairfax County Reston is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Supervisor to join our team. This position works directly with the Facility Manager and will involve a combination of direct hands-on work, supervising and managing a team of housekeeping staff, and ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the YMCA Reston. 

Some of the exciting tasks you will do as the Housekeeping Supervisor include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and manage a team of housekeeping staff, providing guidance, support, and training as necessary. 
  • Create and implement work schedules for the housekeeping team, ensuring adequate coverage and efficient use of resources. 
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the YMCA facilities, including lobby, hallways stairwells, locker rooms, gymnasiums, and other designated areas. 
  • Perform regular inspections to ensure that all cleaning tasks are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner. 
  • Assist with the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new housekeeping staff members. 
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and materials, ensuring that all necessary items are readily available for the team. 

 Qualifications and Skills:

  • The ideal candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Previous experience in housekeeping or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. 
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment, including proper handling and storage.  
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. 
  • Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness and hygiene standards. 
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to housekeeping activities. 

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, climb ladders, stoop, kneel or crawl. 
  • Must be capable of lifting/moving objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
