Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

WTP Media is looking for an experienced Social Media Manager to join our team in Grand Rapids.

This is a client-facing position for someone with professional experience managing social media accounts, developing content strategies, writing engaging copy, and creating high-quality branded graphics.

You’ll take ownership of organic social media for multiple WTP Media clients while communicating directly with clients, collaborating with our internal creative and video teams, and using AI-powered tools already integrated into our marketing workflows.

Our video team will provide professionally produced video content, while you’ll be responsible for creating graphics and turning available client assets into compelling social media content.

This is a full-time hybrid position. Candidates must live in or near Grand Rapids, Michigan.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT

  • Develop and execute social media strategies for multiple WTP Media clients
  • Create engaging posts, captions, campaigns, and content concepts
  • Build and manage monthly client content calendars
  • Schedule and publish content across Facebook, Instagram, and other relevant platforms
  • Maintain each client’s individual brand, voice, and marketing objectives
  • Identify trends and new content opportunities
  • Monitor account performance and adjust strategies based on results
  • Manage multiple client accounts, deadlines, approvals, and deliverables simultaneously
  • Stay current with platform changes, trends, and social media best practices

CONTENT & GRAPHIC CREATION

  • Create professional, on-brand graphics for social media
  • Turn client photos, videos, promotions, and other assets into engaging social content
  • Collaborate with WTP Media’s video team to plan and utilize professionally produced video content
  • Develop creative concepts that support each client’s marketing goals
  • Repurpose existing content across multiple platforms and formats
  • Maintain visual consistency across each client’s social media presence

CLIENT COMMUNICATION & STRATEGY

  • Serve as the primary social media contact for assigned clients
  • Participate in client meetings and strategy discussions
  • Communicate confidently and professionally with business owners and marketing teams
  • Translate client goals into actionable social media strategies
  • Present content ideas, recommendations, results, and next steps
  • Manage client feedback, approvals, and expectations
  • Take ownership of client relationships and deliverables without requiring constant direction

AI & MODERN MARKETING TOOLS

AI is already integrated into how WTP Media operates. You don’t need to be an AI engineer, but you do need to be comfortable working in an AI-assisted marketing environment.

You’ll use AI-supported workflows for:

  • Content ideation and research
  • Copy and caption development
  • Creative concepts and variations
  • Audience and competitor research
  • Content repurposing
  • Reporting and analysis
  • Improving workflow efficiency

We want someone who views AI as a tool that makes a talented marketer better and more efficient—not as a substitute for marketing experience, creativity, or judgment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS — PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING

These are minimum requirements for this position. Candidates who do not meet them should not apply.

  • 2+ years of direct, professional social media management experience
  • Professional experience managing social media accounts for businesses, brands, or clients
  • Experience managing multiple social media accounts or clients simultaneously
  • Strong copywriting and content-development skills
  • Hands-on experience creating professional social media graphics
  • Strong understanding of organic social media strategy
  • Experience developing and managing content calendars
  • Experience analyzing social media performance and making strategic adjustments
  • Experience communicating directly with clients or business owners
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Comfortable using AI tools as part of a professional marketing workflow
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of client accounts
  • Must live in or near Grand Rapids, Michigan and be able to work in a hybrid environment

  • Experience working in an agency environment
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design platforms
  • Experience managing social media for healthcare or professional-service businesses
  • Experience using social media scheduling and reporting platforms
  • Hands-on experience with Meta Ads Manager

THIS POSITION IS NOT A FIT IF:

  • Your social media experience is primarily personal, hobby-based, or limited to managing your own accounts
  • You have less than two years of professional social media experience
  • You are not comfortable creating professional social media graphics
  • You’re looking for an entry-level position where you’ll be trained on social media fundamentals
  • You’re uncomfortable communicating directly with clients
  • You need detailed instructions for every task rather than taking ownership of your accounts
  • You’re looking for a fully remote position
  • You don’t live within reasonable commuting distance of Grand Rapids, Michigan

THE PERSON WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You understand social media beyond simply posting content.

You know how strategy, branding, creative, messaging, consistency, and business objectives work together. You’re equally comfortable planning a month of content, writing engaging captions, creating branded graphics, reviewing performance, and joining a client call to present your recommendations.

You stay current with changes in social media, content trends, and AI, and you actively look for ways to improve your work.

Most importantly, you take ownership of your clients, your content, and your results.
