Location: North Liberty, IA (time split between our office and partner/project locations around the area)

Employment Type: Part-Time

Hours: 15–20 hrs/week, flexible schedule (shoot days may run longer, engagement work is spread through the week)

Reports To: Kelly, Brand & Content Manager

About Spotix

Spotix is a North Liberty, Iowa-based e-commerce company and online leader in hearth, patio, and BBQ products — fire pits, fireplaces, grills, outdoor kitchens, and patio furniture — helping customers bring their gathering spaces to life. Founded in 2011, Spotix has grown into a family of stores (Spotix, Firepits Direct, Fireplaces Direct, and Kickass Grills) and has been part of more than 400,000 residential and commercial projects.

About the Role

Spotix is looking for a Social Media & Community Ambassador to be the face of our brand — someone who builds real relationships, both in our local community and across our online channels and turns those connections into content and growth. You'll build relationships with local architects, interior designers, landscape designers, and contractors, shoot original photo/video content on location, and turn that content into finished, on-brand posts across Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, Reddit, and LinkedIn. Just as important, you'll lead our online community engagement day-to-day, growing a genuine, active presence and expanding our network. We already have some relationships with local landscape designers and contractors and are looking to build on that network. This role is central to growing it further, in person and online.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the face of Spotix in our local community and across our social channels — building genuine relationships and growing our network, in person and online.
  • Identify, pitch, and build ongoing relationships with local architects, interior designers, landscape designers, contractors, and other potential partners, including growing our existing relationships with local landscape designers and contractors.
  • Grow and engage our online community daily: liking, commenting, following, and connecting with relevant brands, PROs, and industry accounts across every channel.
  • Schedule and shoot photo/video content on location at partner projects, with enough variety and quality to support organic social, paid ads, email, and blog.
  • Coordinate shoot logistics directly with partners (permissions, releases, scheduling).
  • Edit raw photo/video into finished, channel-ready posts, including captions, light editing, formatting, and scheduling.
  • Execute the organic social posting calendar.
  • Monitor and respond to comments, DMs, and mentions in Spotix's brand voice; escalate sensitive items to Kelly as needed.
  • Track engagement performance and report results on a weekly/monthly basis.
  • Represent Spotix professionally in the local market and help grow our local and online community over time.

Requirements

  • Photography and/or videography skills.
  • Basic photo/video editing capability.
  • Based in or able to reliably commute within the North Liberty/Cedar Rapids/Iowa City, IA area.
  • Strong written communication and caption-writing skills.
  • Comfortable pitching and coordinating directly with local business owners and design professionals.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for community-building and growing an online following/network.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to deliver content and maintain a posting cadence on a consistent schedule.
  • Comfortable with social scheduling/publishing tools (e.g., Later).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with organic community management on Meta, Pinterest, LinkedIn, or Reddit.
  • Experience shooting content specifically for paid social/ads, not just organic.
  • Experience as a brand ambassador, influencer, or community manager building an online following.

Spotix is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We celebrate differences and are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
