The ideal candidate will be adept in navigating complex emotional and social challenges, ensuring that each student receives comprehensive support tailored to their individual needs.

About the Organization

At Healing Arts Social Work Services, our mission is to foster the emotional and social well-being of the communities we serve, particularly focusing on the younger population through our school-based initiatives. Located in Newark, New Jersey, we prioritize an inclusive approach to service delivery, understanding that each child's circumstances are unique. Our dedicated team of professionals works collaboratively with educational institutions to provide necessary resources and interventions that promote student success.

Work Environment

This position operates in a remote capacity, allowing the Licensed Master Social Worker to connect with students utilizing virtual platforms for assessment and intervention. While the role is primarily conducted online, occasional on-site visits may be necessary to engage more deeply with students or conduct assessments as needed. The flexible remote environment supports work-life balance while ensuring that students receive continuity of care during their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of studentsโ€™ psychosocial needs, analyzing emotional and social factors along with their academic challenges.
  • Develop personalized care plans in collaboration with students and their families, ensuring alignment with educational goals and emotional support needs.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on helping children manage stress, anxiety, and other emotional hurdles affecting their academic performance.
  • Advocate for studentsโ€™ needs within the school system and the community, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and services.
  • Collaborate with educators, school nurses, and mental health professionals to create a supportive network for students requiring additional assistance.
  • Facilitate regular check-ins and follow-up sessions with students to monitor progress and adjust care strategies as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison among families, schools, and community resources, fostering open communication to effectively resolve any issues that arise.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of assessments, interventions, and progress, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Engage in continual professional development and training to remain informed about best practices and new methodologies in child and adolescent social work.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus for this role will be children and adolescents within school settings, including those facing various personal and academic challenges such as mental health issues, family difficulties, and social integration. This role specifically aims to support students in developing coping strategies and enhancing their emotional resilience, thereby they can better thrive both academically and socially.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid New Jersey licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).
  • At least two years of relevant experience in social work, particularly in educational or community settings, focusing on youth.
  • Strong understanding of developmental behaviors in children and adolescents.
  • Exceptional skills in assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students while maintaining professionalism.
  • Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant technology that supports remote therapy.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working within school systems or educational environments.
  • Knowledge of social service resources available to families and students in Newark, NJ.
  • Background in trauma-informed care or mental health support specifically tailored for children and adolescents.
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation for this full-time Licensed Master Social Worker position ranges from $60,000 to $100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Our benefits package includes comprehensive healthcare, dental, and vision coverage, a retirement savings plan with employer matching, generous paid time off (PTO), professional development opportunities, and professional liability insurance.

Career Growth Opportunities

At Healing Arts Social Work Services, we are committed to the professional development of our staff. Social Workers are encouraged to pursue continual education and training, and there are opportunities for specialization in areas such as trauma-informed care, school social work, and more.
