What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Sober Partner, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sober Partner, you need a strong understanding of addiction recovery principles, experience in counseling or peer support, and often certification in addiction support or a related field. Familiarity with case management systems, relapse prevention tools, and documentation procedures is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, empathy, reliability, and discretion help build trust and provide effective support to clients during recovery. These skills are critical for fostering accountability, maintaining client safety, and supporting long-term sobriety.

What are some common challenges faced by Sober Partners in supporting clients through early recovery stages?

Sober Partners often navigate challenges such as managing clients’ emotional fluctuations, maintaining clear boundaries, and fostering trust while providing consistent support. Early recovery can be unpredictable, so Sober Partners must be adaptable and communicate effectively with both clients and clinical teams. Additionally, they frequently collaborate with therapists, family members, and other support professionals to create a comprehensive recovery plan and reinforce healthy habits. Being proactive, empathetic, and resourceful is key to overcoming these challenges and supporting clients’ long-term sobriety.

What are Sober Partners?

Sober Partners are professionals who provide support and guidance to individuals recovering from substance abuse. They typically accompany clients to social events, travel, or during daily life to help them maintain sobriety in challenging situations. Sober Partners may offer emotional support, accountability, and practical advice tailored to each client's recovery journey. Their role is to help clients avoid relapse and build healthy routines for sustained sobriety.

Job description

About DAYBREAKER

DAYBREAKER is the world's leading sober morning dance movement, a global community of 500,000+ members across 28+ cities who wake up before sunrise and dance their faces off, completely substance-free. Founded by Radha Agrawal and Eli Clark-Davis, Daybreaker fuses movement, music, and community into one-of-a-kind experiences that have taken place at Rockefeller Center, the Smithsonian, and in partnership with the White House, Nike, American Express, Samsung, Lululemon, and many more. We believe joy is a radical act, and that the best parties start before 9 AM.

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to work at the center of one of the most creative and mission-driven brands in the world. This role sits at the center of DAYBREAKER’s Partnerships team, supporting the relationship and communication layer of our partner ecosystem.

As Partnerships Intern (EA & Account Management), you will help manage the day-to-day flow of partner relationships — ensuring communication is clear, consistent, and moving forward. You will serve as a reliable point of contact for partners on scheduling, updates, and reporting, while working closely with Co-Founder Eli Clark-Davis on higher-level relationship strategy and growth.

You will also support Eli in staying organized and prepared across partnership workstreams.

You will work in close partnership with the Partnerships Intern (Operations & Activation), ensuring that partner needs are clearly translated into on-the-ground execution.

What You'll Do

  • Act as a day-to-day point of contact for partners on scheduling, updates, and general communication
  • Coordinate regular partner check-ins and help maintain consistent communication cadence
  • Run partner calls, take notes, and track action items and next steps
  • Help prepare and send recap reports, updates, and follow-ups
  • Track deliverables, timelines, and key partnership milestones
  • Escalate strategic or sensitive conversations to Eli as needed
  • Track deliverables, timelines, and contractual obligations for all active partnerships, proactively flagging risks or opportunities
  • Manage Inbound Partnership interest, ensuring all opportunities are reviewed and properly maintained.

Executive Support

  • Manage scheduling for partner calls and key internal meetings
  • Help prepare Eli for meetings (agendas, notes, materials, context)
  • Track follow-ups and ensure nothing slips across partnership workflows
  • Support organization of partnership documents, notes, and systems

Requirements

Who You Are

  • Highly organized and reliable — you follow through and keep things moving
  • A clear, thoughtful communicator (especially in writing)
  • Professional and personable in external interactions
  • Comfortable managing multiple threads at once
  • Proactive — you notice gaps and help close them
  • Curious about partnerships, brand strategy, and experiential marketing
  • Aligned with DAYBREAKER’s mission and energy

Bonus (not required):

  • Experience in customer-facing roles, internships, or student leadership
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides), Notion, Slack

Get Ready To:

  • Join the hardworking and tight-knit Daybreaker HQ team
  • Build a brand whose mission is to inspire people to live happier and healthier lives, to break out of their shells and fully express themselves, to practice mindfulness and empathy every day, and to wake up once a month to dance their faces off of feel gloriously good while doing so
  • Work alongside Daybreaker co-founders and executive team
  • Collaborate with an international community of amazing Producers committed to growing the Daybreaker movement and creating unique experiences around the world — you can consider these folks your new global family
  • Invitations to exclusive events such as art exhibitions, underground dance parties, startup mixers, family dinners, and mindful experiences

What We Offer

  • A $1,000/month stipend
  • Direct, hands-on experience working inside DAYBREAKER’s Partnerships team
  • Close mentorship and exposure to senior leadership and real brand partnerships
  • A fast-track opportunity: high-performing interns will be considered for full-time roles after ~3 months
