SOAR365 is seeking a strategic, innovative, and visionary Vice President of Marketing & Communications to join our Executive Leadership Team. This executive leadership role offers the opportunity to drive organizational visibility, strengthen community engagement, elevate our brand, and help position SOAR365 as the most respected disability services organization in Virginia.

Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Vice President of Marketing & Communications will lead all aspects of branding, marketing, public relations, media relations, digital communications, stakeholder engagement, and internal communications for the organization.

Position Summary

The Vice President of Marketing & Communications serves as the strategic leader responsible for building and advancing the SOAR365 brand while strengthening engagement with donors, families, community partners, employees, corporate supporters, media outlets, and the broader public.

This executive will develop and execute comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that increase awareness, support philanthropic and business development efforts, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and inspire employee engagement while ensuring consistent messaging aligned with SOAR365's mission, vision, and strategic priorities.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that supports organizational goals and strategic priorities.
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and contribute to organizational planning and decision-making.
  • Partner with senior leaders to advance organizational initiatives and strengthen stakeholder engagement.
  • Lead marketing and communications initiatives that support SOAR365's growth, reputation, and long-term sustainability.
Brand Management & Public Relations
  • Elevate SOAR365's brand awareness and reputation throughout the community and philanthropic sector.
  • Ensure consistency of brand identity, messaging, and storytelling across all platforms.
  • Lead all public relations and media outreach efforts.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership regarding communications opportunities and issues.
  • Develop and implement crisis communication strategies and response plans.
Marketing & Communications
  • Create and execute innovative communications strategies utilizing traditional, digital, and social media channels.
  • Oversee content development, website management, advertising, newsletters, social media, sponsorships, and promotional materials.
  • Plan and execute media campaigns and advertising initiatives.
  • Direct market research efforts to understand audiences, stakeholder perceptions, demographics, and emerging trends.
  • Ensure consistent messaging that reflects the SOAR365 mission, services, and strategic vision.
Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
  • Develop and implement internal communications strategies that strengthen culture and employee engagement.
  • Partner with organizational leaders to communicate vision, priorities, achievements, and key initiatives.
  • Support SOAR365's strategic goal of being an employer of choice.
Analytics & Innovation
  • Establish meaningful marketing and communication metrics and reporting mechanisms.
  • Analyze data and campaign performance to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Stay current with evolving marketing technologies and emerging trends, including the ethical and effective use of artificial intelligence.
  • Implement scalable project management systems and processes to improve organizational effectiveness.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing and communications team.
  • Recruit and retain talented professionals aligned with organizational goals.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Effectively manage vendors, consultants, volunteers, and interns.
Financial & Operational Leadership
  • Develop and manage the annual Marketing & Communications budget.
  • Allocate resources strategically to maximize organizational impact and return on investment.
  • Ensure timely execution and completion of strategic initiatives.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, communications, public relations, brand management, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing successful integrated marketing and communications strategies.
  • Proven success leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong experience with digital marketing, social media strategy, content management systems, and brand development.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience utilizing data, analytics, and performance metrics to guide decision-making.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing budgets and aligning resources with strategic priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and marketing technology platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience in nonprofit leadership, healthcare, human services, philanthropy, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Experience working with executive leadership teams and Boards of Directors.
  • Knowledge of AI-enabled marketing and communications tools and technologies.
