Job description

PURPOSE: Primary responsibility is for the highest degree of inspection expertise and achieves acceptable performance and conduct under minimum supervision. Has the primary responsibility for incoming material inspection and disposition, but also will provide technical assistance in QC.  Will be knowledgeable in all Quality Systems and principles within the company and be able to apply that knowledge for the benefit of the department and the company.


DUTIES: The duties of this position are those described below.  This job description does not state or imply that the duties listed are the only duties and responsibilities assigned to this position.  Employees holding this position will be required to perform any other job-related duties as requested by management.


•Determine the acceptability of all incoming raw ingredients.  This will include sampling and testing and, where necessary, establish written internal specifications and inspection criteria.

•In a timely manner, document and report inspection results and product discrepancies in a clear and accurate manner.

•Maintain an orderly file of and control over QC Specifications, C of A's, organic and kosher certificates, test results and other required documentation associated with raw ingredients.

•Utilize computer terminal for information retrieval and data input.

•Understand, comply with and instruct on Good Manufacturing Practices.

•Sample, test and determine disposition on all returned goods.

•Review manufacturing and quality control reports for accuracy, completeness and deviation from standard procedures and specifications. 

•Frequently performs non-routines tasks or special projects as assigned. Handles changes or new assignments with minimum instructions.

•Participate in and gather data on special manufacturing, quality problems/projects. 

•Assist in scale-up and/or plant trials on new existing products.

•Train in and keep current on all QC job functions and act as back up and relief inspector.
