Job description

Description
The Division of Film & Media Arts in the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University is seeking a top-notch production teacher to join a creative and productive faculty and student body located in one of the leading media markets in the nation. The ideal candidate is one who can effectively mentor student filmmakers at all levels, helping them identify and utilize their own creative voices through a variety of media forms. Teaching will cover introductory, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate courses in film and media production, as well as specialized courses in the candidate's particular area(s) of expertise and interest.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications: MFA or equivalent is required, along with previous teaching experience. Must have strong and broad skills in the technical aspects of filmmaking, with specialized expertise in at least one "craft" area (e.g., cinematography, sound, editing, etc.).
Preferred qualifications: Experience in short-form or long-form narrative production and/or production for social media.
This is a renewable, professional (i.e., non-tenure) track position with a start date in August 2027.
