Purpose of the position
The Education Sales Consultant is the primary business development salesperson for the k-12 in the territory of Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico. In addition, the ESC works with districts to introduce SMART solutions through the adoption of our products.
Responsibilities and accountabilities
  • ESC will be responsible for creating a territory plan that identifies priority districts and strategies in order to hit a specific territory revenue target.
  • ESC is responsible for introducing SMART's product solutions and working with the district from the concept phase through revenue recognition.
  • ESC is responsible for identifying new funding sources within a district and introducing SMART to these new contacts.
  • ESC is responsible for organizing and hosting key events, including trade shows, executive visits and channel training.
  • ESC will provide input into strategic consortiums, training centers and DOEs.

Skills Required
  • ESC responsibilities and skill set include the following: Outstanding interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a team environment that consists of the Regional Manager, Area Manager, Inside Account Manager, Demand Generation.
  • Strong working knowledge of SMART's products and software and the ability to learn new SMART solutions as they are introduced are required.
  • Ability to present in front of large groups with the confidence and knowledge of both hardware and software as presentation tools.
  • Strong Education Acumen or former teaching skills.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of proficiency with technology.
  • Must be a self-starter with technology and have the ability to learn new skills independently.

Supervision provided and received
  • The Education Sales Consultant is a field-based position working independently with the guidance and direction of the Regional Manager.
  • The Regional Manager will have weekly-1-1 conversations and travel in the field throughout the year.

Working conditions
  • Successful candidates must be able to work independently from a home office with the ability to travel anywhere within the territory for meetings and product demos.
  • Successful candidates must be able to get a passport and have the ability to travel to Canada.
  • Successful candidates must pass all district level background checks to work in the k-12 environment effectively.

Education and work experience
  • Degree in business, education, marketing or a related field.
  • Ideal experience former educator.
  • Experience in forecasting and hitting sales targets.
  • At least two years of experience in education or sales for a fast-paced, technology-driven business.
  • Experience working with educators.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Proven aptitude for developing relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Strong ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to self-motivate.
  • Good time-management, record-keeping and planning skills.
  • Preferably experience with SMART products.
  • A valid passport, or no impediment to obtaining one or issues travelling into Canada.
  • 70 percent of work hours travelling in North America.
