What is a slitter rewinder?

Slitter rewinders are industrial machines used to cut large rolls of material, such as paper, film, or foil, into narrower rolls and then rewind them. The process involves unwinding the original roll, running it through blades that slit the material into desired widths, and rewinding the slit material onto new cores. Slitter rewinders are commonly used in packaging, printing, and manufacturing industries to produce rolls suitable for further processing or end use.

Job description

Description:

Slitter / Rewinder Operators — Own the Last Step Before It Ships

We are actively filling 2nd shift and weekend shift openings, and give strong preference to candidates available for those schedules.

Cursive prints labels and shrink-sleeve packaging for major consumer brands, and everything we make passes through slitting and rewinding before it goes out the door. That makes the rewinder the last set of eyes on the product — and one of the most important jobs in the plant.

We’re a growing, well-capitalized company with modern equipment, a bright and clean facility, and a lean team where good work gets noticed.

The Opportunity

We’re hiring a full-time Rewinder Operator to slit, inspect, and rewind printed webs to customer specification. You’ll set your own jobs — cores, blades, tension, web alignment — and own the quality of every roll that leaves your machine.

Slitting and rewinding experience is great if you have it. If you’ve run other production machinery and you’re mechanically inclined, we’ll train you on the rest.

Location note: This position is based at our Mason, OH facility (8467 Duke Blvd) — about 16 miles from Hamilton, an easy 25-minute drive east on OH-129 and Liberty Way. Free on-site parking.

Requirements:

What You’ll Do

• Set up and run slitting and rewinding equipment to customer specifications

• Dial in core loading, blade positioning, tension settings, and web alignment on every job

• Inspect printed material as it runs and pull defects before they reach the customer

• Verify finished rolls for width, diameter, splice count, and winding quality

• Handle roll changes, splicing, and material movement throughout the run

• Package finished rolls and stage them for the next operation or shipment

• Record quantities, waste, and job performance data accurately

• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on your equipment

• Troubleshoot minor mechanical and process issues; escalate the bigger ones

• Coordinate with press operators, finishing, and supervisors to keep work flowing

• Contribute to continuous improvement work on quality and throughput

• Keep your area clean, organized, and safe

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Experience with slitting, rewinding, or converting equipment strongly preferred

• Manufacturing or production machine operation experience considered in place of direct slitter experience

• Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort making your own machine adjustments

• Sharp eye for print defects, color variation, and winding issues

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment

• Ability to stay organized and manage multiple priorities during production runs

• Positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team

• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

• Willingness to learn and grow within a production environment

• Availability for 2nd shift or the weekend shift strongly preferred

Shift Schedule

We run four-day weekday shifts and a three-day weekend shift, so every schedule here comes with at least three consecutive days off:

• 1st shift — Tuesday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Three-day weekend, every week.

• 2nd shift — Tuesday through Friday, 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM. Three-day weekend, every week, plus a shift differential.

• Weekend shift — Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Full-time hours in three days, four days off every week, plus a shift differential.

A shift differential is paid for 2nd shift and the weekend shift. We are currently prioritizing candidates available for either of those schedules — please note your availability when you apply.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted

• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods

• Ability to work safely around moving equipment in a moderately loud production environment

• Visual acuity to distinguish color, detail, and print quality

Why You’ll Love Working at Cursive

• Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, STD, LTD, and 401k)

• Paid training and career development in a fast-growing company

• A clear path into advanced converting and finishing roles

• Work in a modern, clean, state-of-the-art production facility

• Lean team where your work makes a visible impact

• Opportunity to work with world-class consumer brands

• Performance-driven culture that recognizes skill, effort, and results

• Supportive team that values collaboration, learning, and innovation
