What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Set up and operate CNC machining equipment for heavy industrial components
  • Read blueprints, engineering drawings, and job travelers
  • Select tooling, fixtures, inserts, and workholding for each job
  • Perform machine setups on vertical and horizontal machining centers and CNC turning centers
  • Hold close tolerances down to ±0.001"
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment
  • Perform boring, drilling, tapping, turning, honing, polishing, and related machining operations
  • Safely operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment to handle large workpieces
  • Track jobs using JobBOSS and Travelers
  • Perform light machine maintenance and maintain a clean work area
  • Work closely with programmers, supervisors, and fellow machinists to complete projects safely and efficiently

  • Familiarity with Fanuc, Mazatrol, Okuma, or DMG MORI controls

  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T
  • Experience using precision measuring tools
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Willingness to work at both Portsmouth facilities as business needs require
