Job description

SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant, under general supervision, uses a knowledge of basic accounting practices, data entry and Company practices to create, process and maintain various company documents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare and post general ledger entries.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations, bank, inventory, balance sheet accounts.
  • Reconcile/research employee receivables.
  • Post general ledger corrections and adjustments when necessary.
  • Review and research variances in trial balance.
  • Aid Controller with accounting/financial projects and presentations.
  • Backup to Accounts Receivable/Account Payable; ensure GL coding is correct.
  • post cash receipts, process vendor invoices, process customer credit card payments, customer credit holds, etc.
  • Process 1099’s.
  • Review manufacturing jobs for variances/closing.
  • Observe and comply with all Company policies and regulations including safety, housekeeping, confidentiality of information and quality of work with support of ISO procedures and standards.
  • Utilize individually and/or further the use of total quality concepts, tools and techniques to support continuous quality improvement in all processes in which the position participates with a positive "Can Do" attitude.
  • Support, encourage and maintain a positive team working atmosphere throughout the company.
  • Perform other duties as requested or necessary to meet business conditions and changes.
  • Meet and maintain all quantifiable standards of performance.

QUALIFICATIONS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have strong Excel experience / knowledge (intermediate to expert level knowledge)

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
