Job Summary:
This Ski Shop Manager oversees all aspects of operations, including rentals, sales, lessons, and tours. It requires strong leadership to supervise staff, ensure customer satisfaction, and manage finances. Key duties include inventory management, equipment maintenance, and providing ski-related information, all while upholding high hospitality standards.

Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain standards of entire park-wide ski operations during the winter season (through proper direction, control, coordination and delegation).
- Supervise and assist both ski shops in managing shop sales and payroll budgets, proper departmental bookkeeping, and scheduling and disciplining ski shop personnel.
- Assists the Director with departmental budgeting, staffing and purchasing. Provide advice on market conditions, trends and operational needs.
- Coordinates all special order purchases for shop retail inventory and direct expenses.
- Develop and implement ski personnel training program covering shop procedures for ski rentals and repairs, retail sales, and departmental accounting procedures. Include specialized training for ski instructors and guides with a focus o on proper instruction and personal safety.
- Responsible for preseason organization and set up of ski shops. Distribute necessary office supplies, tools and equipment for location operations.
- Write and distribute "Snow Condition Update" for park-wide skiing opportunities.
- Coordinate revisions and production of ski maps, ski information displays and departmental marketing materials.
- Coordinate with Mammoth and Gardiner school ski programs to provide assistance with ski rentals and instruction.
- Advise the Director as needed during off season planning and organization.
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of Yellowstone Park and the entire winter ski operation; general knowledge of gift shops and distribution center policies and procedures.
- Very good general knowledge of, and ability, in, all aspects of cross country skiing, including backcountry and track skiing and the proper equipment used. Includes cross country ski instruction and guided day tours with a focus on proper education and personal safety.
- Demonstrate a professional approach and strong managerial skills in managing park-wide ski operations, supervising ski shop managers, working with other departments and NPS management directives.
- Able to perform duties with minimal supervision; excellent attendance and punctuality
- Able to lift and carry cartons weighing up to 50 lbs. Frequently delivers supplies from warehouse to shops and between shops.
- Current First Aid and CPR training is required.
- Current PSIA certification is encouraged. Knowledge of PSIA programs, standards and methods, along with attendance of a PSIA sponsored clinic, is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Able to operate Company vehicles safely. May include car, van, snow-coach or snowmobile under seasonal conditions.
Physical Requirements include:
- Must be capable of working in cold weather conditions
- Able to work outside in temperatures as low a -10 degrees Fahrenheitย
- Must be capable of performing strenuous tasks such as shoveling snow or removing logs or other large objects from the trail
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
