Job description

The Pandrea lab is looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate with strong training in HIV/SIV pathogenesis.  Incumbent will be expected to perform duties with a high degree of independence, initiative, and judgement.  Incumbent will work directly with Dr. Pandrea and will conduct innovative research in the field of HIV/SIV with a focus on mucosal immunology and metabolic abnormalities related to retroviral infections.  

Requirements:   

  • PhD in Immunology, Pathology & Infectious Diseases

  • Established record of published research

  • Strong methodological background

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Demonstrated evidence of organizational skills and attention to detail, strong writing skills

Job Duties:  Incumbent will play a significant intellectual, technical, and scientific role in our lab.   They will:

  • Help design and conduct experimental research work within the HIV/SIV pathogenesis field

  • Maintain detailed documentation of the research experiments

  • Develop new ideas that promote current research areas in our lab and lead new projects

  • Present research at scientific meetings

  • Prepare and publish scientific manuscripts under the direction of Dr. Pandrea

  • Assist with the preparation of grant applications

  • Responsible for the operation of specific equipment; trains research staff, undergraduate, and graduate students
