Lead Metrology Technician

Job Summary

Lead Metrology Technician will provide day-to-day support for the Metrology Program Calibrating IMTE and guiding workflow with other technicians. Lead Technician will be involved with providing training and coverage for lab activities to support customers. Will assist Lab Manager in monitoring trends through calibration metrics.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform calibrations on dimensional, physical, and electrical equipment.

  • Calibrate standards used in calibrations.

  • Ensure documentation conforms to Quality Systems requirements.

  • Perform complex configuration and tests of equipment according to instructions, blueprints, schematic sketches and/or prescribed testing procedures.

  • Use common laboratory measuring, calibrating, and test equipment.

  • Proficient at understanding work instructions, and site procedures.

  • Proficient in understanding engineering drawings for custom gages and fixtures.

  • Proficient in surface plate layouts using sine plates, compound sine plates, and sine bars.

  • Proficient in calibration of hand tools, including internal and external micrometers, plug gages, ring gages, thread gages, and dial/test indicators.

  • Perform work safely, in compliance with HS&E requirements, and takes actions to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Interact effectively with others to produce the desired results.

  • Participate constructively in the utilization of process improvement methods to provide timely, cost-effective, quality services.

  • Apply advanced skills in area of specialization.

  • Participate in development of calibration procedures and uncertainty analysis.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree preferred, or applicable technical training and certifications and 7 years of directly related experience. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Formal training from a military, PMEL, TMDE or calibration school is preferred.

  • Previous customer service experience is a plus

  • Leads and directs the work of others in the absence of the supervisor.

  • U.S. Citizenship Status required due to client requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • IndySoft, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), CAD, CMM basics, Fluke Met/Team experience is a plus.

  • Proficient using Microsoft technology, including Excel

  • Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.
